Never have done it, have read some where that you can (might have been Sweet Marias?).

From memory of where I read:
Some ovens may not get quite hot enough.
Use a tray with holes drill in it (so the heat is more even)
    Apparently produces an uneven roast.

Be good to hear from someone who has tried!

I have a coretto setup......but i wanna try this, might use one of those flat steel mesh colanders, it will be interesting to hear the FC and SC so pronounced without all the noise, could be a good training aid for some that means me! I had a laugh

I thought that the 2 things required for coffee roasting was hot air and agitation... The oven would produce the heat but there will be no agitation so not sure how that will work. The other factors would be smoke and chaff...

Element or flame at the bottom of an oven with chaff = FIRE so not a good idea. Soggy burnt wheat smell in the house may = dog house ;)

Beg borrow or steal or even buy a heat gun, grab a stainless steel bowl and a wooden spoon.

Either that or trawl around your local cash convertors or op shop for a popcorn popper.

Both options will be nothing to $40 to have a bash. My first couple of roasts were bowl, spoon and heat gun and were really drinkable, so go for it IMO :)

    Welcome bluefox...... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

It will be messy but a far safer method and much more likely to produce acceptable results is to use a Wok and Whisk and then stir vigorously.... You dont want the beans sitting on the bottom for more than a second or two at a time. The end result may not be as even as with a Corretto or Popper, etc but it should be drinkable, if the beans themselves are up to scratch.

    Have fun... :)
