Can anyone think of any reason why one could not use an ice cream machine to cool beans?

    Hi dj

Im no expert but I think the moisture inherent in the ice cream maker (well, ours anyway) would not be good for the beans.

Our ice cream maker uses the spinning frozen bucket method

    It would take too long.

    Re: Cooling Beans

Even just some colanders and a fan will cool the beans at a reasonable rate, if no fan available then 3 colanders would be better so one can cool a bit between uses.
Better still is any variation on the bean coolers that have been constructed here on this site, based around various kinds of fans and industrial vacuum cleaners, some sort of sieve or splatter guard and a bucket or similar container. Can be done relatively cheaply and works very well.

because your coffee might taste like ice-cream or is it your ice-cream like coffee :D

how many beans are you trying to cool?

Just some ss colanders and a fan works fine. Come to think of it we have one of those portable air conditioers... should try that.
