    African Red Sea Blend

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Just wondering if anyone has tried roasting this blend that was in the Feb polls? And if you have, what have you found is the best roast for it? Thanks!

Roast to taste Bloop... and if its no good roast is again (differently!)

Im going to try roasting it again tomorrow... I tend to enjoy my coffee dark (not incinerated though) and how I like it might not be how you like it.

I know others that said it stood-up to early post-second crack ok.... and they loved it.

Let us know what you think the sweet spot is for your tastebuds.

    :)

Did a City+ roast as thats what came out of the Imex (too busy to watch it). Didnt like it... Im no good at cupping so I wont try to describe it, lets just say it wasnt dark enough for my tastes... will roast again, using heatgun this time.

    Re: African Red Sea Blend

... yeah, I took my first lot too dark, too. Seeing as the roaster that Ive been using only does 1/2kg at a time, it was a punishing mistake!

Id advise people to keep a very close eye and ear on this one; Im pretty sure that first and second were not distinctly separate ... different screen sizes, perhaps? Anyhoo, Id probably be aiming to stop at the first hint of second, just because that should be an easy reference point ... but probably best to stop marginally earlier. At least its not as tricky as the ismaili!

    Cheers,

    L
