Beans Beans Beans French Press, Filter or Espresso

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Some of you guys out there already into home roasting for sometime, with the beans I buy from shops the bag occasionally labelled recommend for Espresso, milk base, or Fresh Press, I wonder would a roaster be able to tell before hand that his roasted bean is good for drinking it as Espresso or others, of cause I think cupping is the sure way.

Or can a roaster alter the roasting profile such that the beans can go either way?

    Thanks

Different brew methods require a roast level to suit
French press for my pallet is roasted medium B/4 second crack

Espresso for my pallet is roasted dark to second crack

Others may find a similar preference

Basically what KK put is a good start point, to complicate it a bit not all beans for example suit Espresso, like not all suit brewed methods.

As an example the Ethiopian Yirg I had a few weeks ago I know from previous roasts doezsnt do it for my in a Syphon but I love it as a Latte or it makes a great Espresso too. One of this weeks roast was a PNG Wahgi which I like in both Brewed and as a Latte or Cap.

Are you wanting to start roasting your own for Press?
