    KKTO roasting times

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Had the kkto for a while now, noticed it was taking longer for a roast - 300-700 so normally around 20 mins tops. Thought it was my Tiffany, so picked up an easy cook - also fire blanket (got spoilt), last roast 600g took that long my tempered went off, sure it was almost 25-30 mins. Takes forever lately - coffee is still good. Is there excessive heat loss maybe ? Will check seals and clean bit nothings changed.

Cheers kk - only thing I can see is the tubing is loose - got some high temp, gasket. PM if you around to catchup or provide any things to try.

I had the same sort of issue after about 200 roasts so a bought a cheap Aldi turbo oven and started using that, roast times were shorter but not as originally available with the original tiffany.

All other variables remained the same.

Yes I do have some High Temp silicone - the copper based stuff
I use this or the red type for sealing the liner

It is important to keep the fan & element clean
Chaff - even if its a tiny amount, will find its way into the upper section of the TO system
With repeated use it may build up

" When Cold" I regularly vacuum or blow air through the TO
This keeps it as clean or at least dust free

    Re: KKTO roasting times

Ok cleaned the tubing - resealed with RTV red. Brand new Turbo oven so no need to clean yet. First roast was about 500g - had my temp monitor on. Again went off as it took so long. I am guessing 20 minutes idle ? - so good 20 odd minutes for roasts...I am thinking maybe the Tiffany had more guts than the easy cook ? Just over time my was failing perhaps ?

Thoughts on easy cook against Tiffany (other than cost). I havent seen anything much like a 1400 watt motor I think the Easy cook is 1300 675 model ?

    What beans are you using
Most hard or high altitude beans will take 20 min beans

Hmm never had the problem until I changed the TO. I also added a fire blanket so if anything done that too.
