    Should I buy a Hearthware i Roster?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,

    new here!

Rancilio Silvia, Lux grinder, no probs-work great!!

Beans from Lavazza etc (courtesy local supermarket).

This is where Ive been going wrong!

Looking to buy an i Roast fom Sweetmarias.com to make fresh batches to my taste. Am I on the right track? Reports seem good - noise / smell / chaff no problem (on acres). Have a 120-240v converter..... so all I really need is some feedback on machine versus campfire/torch etc

    many thanks in advance

Has certainly had some good reviews although some of the after sales mods being implemented indicate that it still has design issues.

The fact you have a converter certainly makes it easier.

It will need to be a fairly grunty converter it will need to be ble to handle 1600 watts or so, not many can.

    Hiker

Ever thought about a Heat gun, SS collunder and a coolong fan, much simpler and possibly a great deal cheaper. A lot of us here are doing it. an alternative is to get your self an Imex popper, theyre fairly iunexpensive as well

Ive read the posts on heat guns, but get the impression that its like a blowtorch (eg creme caramel).
greenbeans, com.au have a Imex for sale - is this worth having - seems a lot simpler than flying one in from USA

    Any feedback on Imex appreciated.

    cheers

Hiker we have an Imex here and it has worked well when we dont want to manually roast. But the heat gun method is quite a lot of fun as well and you certaily have greater controll over the roasting process.... Find a friend that has a heat gun nad ask if you can borrow it and try the HG method first. You can use the Girlfrieds/Wife/Partners hair dryer set on cold to cool your beans. If you contact CoffeeSnobs they can make some green beans avail to you at a good price.

    Thanks FrenchBean

I think I will follow your well trodden path - Imex and heat gun

Do you have any experience of greenbeans.com.au - do they have a solid track record for online purchases - they dont give a phone nbr?

I guess Im seeking a trade ref before I type in my Visa details

    thanks

    Good enough - thanks

Its just that I normally deal with online suppliers who are contactable to ensure that a communication channel is opened before monies are transferred.
