Between 5 and 9 days. Cant say how it develops after this as I have finished the roast. Love this bean though - Cocoa flavours really come through - great as a SO. Ill roast twice as much next time so I have some that lasts a little longer. I tend to always not have enough coffee roasted so I am always opening bags I swore I would leave for longer. How long since you roasted the beans?

    Re: Kenya Gitwe A

I roasted some for a friend he ground it at day 3 & promptly threw it in the bin after the 1st shot, however, I was multitasking a little too much when I roasted this batch. So while i didnt leave the roast, i wasnt concentrating on the roast 100% as usual. I decided to roast under the extraction hood in the evening after we had settled the devils spawn (the baby) & the other kids. All was going well until, I discovered that the hood wasnt actually plumbed into the roof space & all of a sudden we had alot of smoke heading for the smoke detector out of the cupboard doors. Needless to say alot of profanities possibly escaped from my mouth as i tossed up waking the devils spawn or ejecting the roast early. Fortunately after a few seconds of anxious verbal jousting my partner kindly opened up the doors & windows in the kitchen & we managed to avoid setting off the smoke detector. However, it seems I may have butchered the beans in the process :-X

Thx S & S.That maybe an option, choc coating that is. Id be too embarrassed to share them with fellow snobbers :-[ I was also making koftas at the same time, they turned out fine so...... Something has gotta give ;)
I must admit, I was very distracted with the whole smoke waking the baby/ saving the beans thing!
Bring on summer please, so much easier to roast outside when its dark :)

What roasting profiles are people using for this bean? Ive been drinking the batch I roasted of this after the fume hood debacle from day 7. It smells chocolatey? & tastes ok, but not my favourite. Im thinking that Ill probably need to try a different roast profile though! :)

What type of roaster do you have? Because we do the same method with minor adjustments every time and we are getting consistent results now. Some roasted beans we prefer the taste of compared to others.
    I think its personal! :)

I have a hottop B, I use the same profile with most beans I have to admit but usually get quite palatable results. SO my theory is, if something works dont change it........

I am so jealous, ;D I want one of them, but the wife wont let me buy one :( She wants me to paint the house instead, even though I paint better when im fed regular good coffee :( .

However my cheap correto setup is now producing consistent results. Can you bring your Hottop to the next meet and do a demo?
