In August 2009 I posted on this site details of bag sealers that I though would be fantastic to seal coffee bags.
Since this posting I have used these sealers with coffee bags to store my roasted coffee and found them to be so good I doubt I will ever use anything else.
With a little practice they are easily deployed to seal the bags and none of the 4 I purchased has failed in this period. Also they do little to reduce the life of coffee bags.
The operation of the one way valve on a coffeee bag will not be defeated *if the sealer is correctly placed. The best way to do this is to remove the opposite end of the bag that has the oneway valve if the bag has been sealed on both ends.
Given my total satisfation with this system I am surprised with the small response on this forum. This is probably my fault as it is *a diffucult system to describe in words. So this time I will include some photos. *
The original *posting has been pasted below:-

"Possible Coffee Bag Sealer
I have just purchased from a Howards Storage store in Southlands (South Eastern Melbourne ,Victoria) a Pack of 4 Magic Lock Bag Sealers *which could possibly be the answer to sealing coffee bags and allow the reuse of bags many times over.
A crude description of how they work is it is a rod of plasitic with another hollow tube surrounding it . The hollow tube has a 1 mm slit along its entire length.
The bag to be sealed is folded back on itself (180 degrees) and feed onto the solid tube through the 1mm slit on the outer hollow tube.
The pack I purchased came with 2 150mm and 2 210mm sealers. They are labelled "Magic Lock Bag Sealers" and have a web site on the package of http://tinyurl.com/n2xd6h or http://tinyurl.com/l86ac4. The cost for 4 was $7.25."

Hmm I went to Howard Storage just past Chermside and they had no idea what I was talking about or even heard of them. Looks like online for me then
I purchased mine from the Howards Storage store in Southlands Cheltenham Victoria. Have not checked out any other outlets but this store had at least 6 sets 10 days ago.
As gumboot states a google search will find many other outlets.
I went back and purchased another 3 sets of four after discovering how good they where.
These sealers work so well I would like to make a suggestion that maybe Coffeesnobs could supply them to members.
If one of the elders of the forum would like to follow this up the web site of the Australian distributor is www.donaldson.com.au.
They are available at most kitchen ware outlets, as well Howards S
