    Outdoor roasting station

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Gday guys. I know there has been a nice thread on roasting stations and most of you have fantastic setups that reside in the garage.

My current situation has me carrying everything from the spare room inside onto the outdoor setting on the back verandah, and then back again once I am finished roasting. It is less than ideal and it means the whole table is taken up outside at the time.

So the search for a table/station for the verandah begins. I am looking for something that will hold my Behmor/Laptop/Bucket Cooler/Associated tools comfortably. I want to be able to leave it outside without fear of moisture getting into the equipment on a damp/humid/rainy day. The area is undercover, however not completely weatherproof. So essentially I want something with a cover.

My question is, does something like this exist and where can I find it? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

I have a coretto setup I leave on my patio...only take in my laptop when not in use. Also have an i-Coffee Roaster that I put out there when not in operation.

I use one of my motorbike covers over it during winter to ensure no wind drives the rain onto my setup when not being used.. I am sure a BBQ cover would also be of use

Thanks for sharing yours cruza! I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of bench which has something that pulls over the top (like a bbq hood). Does such a thing exist or did I make it up in my head?

I was at one stage thinking instead of horizontal I could go vertical with shelves... good ventiation when roasting with doors open.. secure...neat.. dry..

My BBQ is fairly well constructed but its far from waterproof in the wrong conditions. The hotplate, grill and burners are well protected but the drip tray is exposed and the cabinet beneath suffers in driving rain comes from the wrong direction.

Ive just run a tape measure over the BBQ and Behmor. The only way mine would fit is if you removed all the cooking bits and added a new shelf lower down. Surprisingly there just isnt the clearance.

I thought about old acoustic printer cabinets when first read your post. Thats a noise-reducing cabinet for larger impact printers used in the offices of old...... But I doubt if their gettable now, I havent seen one for decades. Most were snapped up by herpotologists and rock collectors, and most sat on an existing tables. The weather element would count against them too.

Im currently refurbishing an old tray mobile to carry my gear. The top shelf will hold the Behmor and scales, the lower shelf wil hold colanders, alum. trays, green beans for the day etc. I saw it as a way to house* most things together. I store my greens in a much larger cupboard.

Cruza: while I see what youre aiming at I can only suggest you paint the box dark blue.... it is strikingly similar to a well known dark blue box ;) And youd need power, so a blue light on top would work too :)

Whilst I agree a TARDIS would be effective for keeping on top of your roasting, unfortunately it is not a real solution so I am still stuck :( Thanks for your ideas cruza and dabbler - ill keep brainstorming!

How about attaching some casters (Bunnings has a good selection) to the bottom of your table so you can wheel it indoors when not in use , just a thought ;)

Good idea, but unfortunately the layout of the house would not lend itself to it..
