    My first roast

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Recently purchased a Behmor and this morning had my first go at roasting coffee.

315g Peru Ceja de Selva Estate, settings were 1lb/B/P2

1st crack at 5:00 and silent by 3:00, 2nd crack at 0:40 at which time I hit the cooling button, after 1 min of cooling I opened the door ajar.

Turned out around CS9, basically no smoke at any stage, next time ill use 1lb/C/P2 to try avoid the heat ramp up between 1st and 2nd crack.

Tasting notes to follow in a few days ;)

That is a really early first crack! On 1lb p2 c I get first crack at around 13 mins.

I believe he means 5 minutes remaining - which sounds about right to me ;)

Yes times stated was the remaining duration for that program.

Translated this means 1st crack after 15min and 2nd crack after 19:20.

The only difference between the "B" setting and the "C" setting if you select 1lb/P2 is the duration, which goes from 20:00 to 22:30 if the manual is correct.

Very even roast for your first try. This bean is a good starting point and this looks good from the photo.
    Good stuff :)

    Behmor Coffee Roaster
    Some brief tasting notes...

Balanced acidity with cocoa and caramel notes, makes a pleasant latte, a bit lacking in body, loads of crema but collapses fast.

The mrs said it was the best piccolo she has had in a while 5 days post roast.
