    Heatsnob problem

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My Heatsnob is displaying" thermocouple shorted to power" and"check meter power connection". This a couple of months old unit with original probe, it has worked perfectly till this morning, has never been disconnected from Behmor, only laptop, so wiring hasn't been disturbed, kinked or damaged. warnings come up as soon as heatsnob is attached to usb cable, with or without thermocouple. Does anyone have any experience of this or ideas of how to fix. Thanks Chippy.

Does this happen when the laptop is running on the battery or only when plugged into AC? If the latter then the problem is the laptops power supply.

Hi JP,thanks for reply. It happens either way. I think its the Heatsnob itself. The thermocouple works Ok hooked up to a DMM. Chippy

I would have expected that if the thermocouple wasn't plugged in you would get an error message saying that it wasn't plugged in too!

The HeatSnob is sensitive to dodgy power noise, at work the air-compressor on the other side of the snobbery will give it a blip when it turns-on.

As a test, unplug the roaster from the wall and run your laptop on battery just to prove it's not something in your house leaking voltage to earth.

Let me know how you go via the [Contact Us] at the bottom of the page as I can reply faster than stumbling across a post here.
