    How to use a....

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Some comments made in another thread got me thinking...

A while ago, Ben created a thread regarding his use of the corretto, that included lots of pics, and is now a sticky. Its a great resource and over my morning coffee/s, was wondering if there is merit in developing this further.

A series of "How to use a popper, How to use a corretto, How to use a bbq roaster, How to use a gene, etc." threads with the input of some people who have been using these pieces of equipment for a while, demonstrating the process from start to finish, by way of commentary that includes pics, or better still, a video link to a youtube account.

Another series might be, "How to build a..." - you get the idea. Diagrams, lists of equipment reqd, etc. and include the pros and cons for each particular method.

I know all of this info might be found using searches, though thought its probably scattered and hard to glean out the info. I guess it would also take a lot of work, and would need an editor for review purposes.

Would this be useful or is it re-inventing the wheel? What do you think?

Im using a Gene Cafe and I look closely for threads that discuss this.

Would be great to have a thread that links these discussions for using GC together.

Great Idea Dennis. *I like it

    I like the idea Dennis.

It would make it easier for newbs if there was such a Reference Section.

Ive moved on from using my popper but my article (somewhere in here along with Lucindas) could be expanded to include a few pics etc.

Great idea! I was actually planning on making an (informational) website with exactly that purpose - only for Corretto, though, since I havent spent any time using other methods. One of the really frustrating things about learning to home roast was the lack of info in one place! That is, all the info is there; it just hasnt been collated yet.

Ill start working on something for how to use and how to build a Corretto... though it would be good to make it a wiki so that someone can correct all my errors!

    Cheers
    Stuart.

I think the wiki is a good idea Stuart. It would overcome some of the probs regarding the reliability of information. I know Ive come across some, how can I put it..."interesting" vids on youtube.
