Where should the Tassie pickup point be?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight

After the discussion kicked-off by Tasadam it looks like there is some interest in having two Tassie pickup points, one in the north and one in the south.

    Delivery price would be $1.50/kg
(half the price of Australia Post express satchels, but a few days slower)

Vote for which towns the pickup points should be and please use this thread to discuss/organise where the pickup will be.

Somewhere CoffeeSnob friendly that is occupied during the day for the courier to deliver to makes the most sense. I would expect that getting it delivered to someones work-place and that CSr taking it to a cafe/meeting place might also work well.

I would hope that the beans could be in any one of the above cities by Saturday the 15th July.

    Over to you guys...

Not necessarily... though the option to is still there. I have had an email chat with Andy and we have done some planning, hence this poll. Andy needs to know which centres have the most interest for pickup points.

I can still get boxes up to 15kgs from Devonport to Hobart for $3 a box - but they would need to be collected at Mornington. I can get beans from Devonport to Burnie without cost within the week. *One "stumbling block" would be what would happen if I am not there... The short answer would be that someone else would need to sort and distribute. As I appear to be the only member in Devonport (based on previous thread, not this poll), that could prove to be a problem. Hence this poll...

I dare say the courier would need a signature, hence Andys comment about being occupied during the day. If you werent there to sign, they would card it and return it to the depot. Depending on the courier used, the courier company would likely be based in Devonport or Ulverstone (which is half way between Dev. and Bur.)
So if you were to be used but cant get to Dev or Ulv you could let me know. If that is the case, of course... A lot of "ifs" there.

If you do become an option for NW, I will send my details via PM. Happy to help in any way.
    Cheers!

Hey $1:50/kg is a lot better than $3:00/kg, and slightly longer delivery time isnt an issue for me.
I am happy for the pickup point to be at RHs place, know it well actually, especially the cafe section :) ;)

In the event that courier arrived at the wrong time, I am at Ulverstone regularly during the day, could pick up from depot if it was there.

    Some more "ifs" .....

    Regards
    Bullitt

Nice offer Simon. Im sure the locals will appreciate the get together (and cheaper freight).

We can freight bulk into Hobart for $1.50/kg (or part therof)
It will be a couple of days slower than Express Post but will also be about half the cost.

As long as the shipping address has someone to sign for the beans during business hours its fine else I think they will need to picked-up from the couriier depot which is?!?!?! (who knows where).

Do you have any ideas for a CS get together to distribute the beans?

The polling is also looking like RH@Burnie is going to be northern point too. We have shipped there before without a problem so as long as you expect to be around for the delivery and/or know where the Couriers Please depot is then we can try for it this month.

We can always swap and chop to get it right over the coming months. Its always going to be easier for you guys to determine that than me!

Tasadam is trying hard to source a better than $1.50/kg freight rate and if we can get that going in the future we will try it too. He also mentioned that work took him to Burnie once a week so the option to get beans back into Devonport looks like a goer too.

The really good news is that Tassie has gone from none to two pickup point options!
    :)

Re: Where should the Tassie pickup point be?

    Well done Andy.
Yes I am still looking at other options for freight. I have a couple I found out about yesterday... One is a whole pallet 1.2 x 1.2 x.1.2 which I can get into Tas from a depot in Melbourne... Dont think we need a whole pallet! But it looks cost effective if we ever hit 200kgs !! ::)

If Scott and Simon (Rayzurhed and ParaM) can take your freight for now and we run with this, thats fantastic, its off the ground and running!

I will let you know again if I find anything further. Thanks for you help.

    Adam.

Ok... the BeanBay pickup points will be:

TASSIE - "ParaM" - Hobart (see thread for details)
TASSIE - "Rayzurhed" - Burnie (see thread for details)

Both will show 14/07/2007 in BeanBay but the beans might get there a couple of days earlier (with any luck)

Use this thread to determine actual meeting places/times/dates.

    :)
