On the coffee social front we have just had AASCA Barista championships all around the country and a pile of CSrs being the stars of the show at Celebrate the Bean. We have plenty more events on the calendar too including the Victorian legs of the AASCA Barista championships with Sydney and ACT to follow in April. Im also looking forward to catching up with fellow CSrs and site sponsors at CafeBiz at Randwick on the 13th and 14th April which should be a great long weekend. Always busy, but always good!

    Have a great month,

    Enjoy!

    Gday Andy

The Aceh Arabica Gr1 - is that a Sumatran Mandehling? Is it washed or unwashed?

    Cheers

The Aceh is the same style of bean, wet hulled, very clean and well graded with a deep translucent colour. *

All the bean descriptions will appear in BeanBay when the items do.

A quick protocol question: Do we have an agreeable limit on how much we order, so as to allow as many as possible to buy? I havent done a beanbay before and dont want to commit some terrible oops! Rob

    Gday Rob,

No mate, theres no real limit as such, apart from buying in 2.5Kg lots (the smallest we do). With really highly regarded and much sought after beans like the Yemen though, it pays to get in quick because itll probably be all gone within a few minutes and I guess a bit of fellow member consideration doesnt go astray in this situation.

    All the best,
    Mal.

Thanks Mal, sounds good! Im still in the process of trying to taste test all the different origins I can, so small quantities are best for me. Looking forward to tomorrow night!

Very funny first post Javanation, welcome to [s]the mad house[/s] CoffeeSnobs.

theres no real limit as such, apart from buying in 2.5Kg lots (the smallest we do).
    Which reminds me to mention...
The two teas and the three chocolates are all in 1kg bags and as Mal posted, the green beans are all in 2.5kg lots packed in cotton bags.

I noticed that the bags have changed last BeanBay, *Are the new ones going to be with the ties attached as I like this better. *I usually throw the metal ties out as I dont really like them, but the material ties already attached are great.

NNNNOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I just realised I have to pick up my daughter from work at 9pm! Ill be 6k from my computer at the start of BeanBay whaaaaaaahhh ::pathetic sobbing sounds::,...and depending on how busy they were in the last half hour before close,.. they might be running late (more often than not) and its highly possible it could even be 10ish before I get back home. This is disastrous!!

Ive been waiting all this time for the drinking chocolate too :( :( :(

    I just want;
1kg of African Red Drinking Chocolate, and
1kg of Orange Spiced Drinking Chocolate

Ill be spewin if its all gone when I get back!

I wonder,.. if it looks like its running out fast can someone reply to my post and maybe add them to their order?? oh I dunno that wont work.. cos everyone will want to jump in as quickly as possible and would already have ordered...aaargh.

I wonder how her boss would feel if I just ran into the cafe and dragged her out to the car screamin BeanBay! BeanBay! weve gotta run!!!!

Well if you know they will probably run a little over time, get your order in at 9pm should only take 2 minutes then go pick her up. *Ring ahead and pre warn if possible also that you will be 10 mins late in picking her up.

Trust me you dont want to miss a beanbay, I did once and was nearly put in an institution that month due to the depression I went through :( ;D

Wow that went quick! Enough Yemen for the day and enough Decaf for night, plus a bit of orange choc to top it all off! But 8:30 is a BAD time for the modem to drop out - yes no yes no do I restart it or wait in case it fixes itself? Must have been the slowest Ive felt CS running too!

Not bad - 45kg of Decaf and 110kg of Yemen sold in about 8 minutes! :o

What happened? At precisely 9.00pm the screen froze for a full minute. When it returned, there were 7 kg of Bali left! Quite unprecedented here.

    Anyone else had problems?

Andy, I think Bean Bays are great and run smoothly...But Im not sure about the surprise additions.

Making instant decisions under pressure of time before the "sold out" sign goes up... with no time for prior research....

Any reason why the full list is not mailed out?

Yet another magnificently magnificent BeanBay offering. In-Out-Paid in seven minutes and that included some searching about for the ones I wanted. I even made a list this time so I wouldnt "go nuts" but was a bit thrown to see so many items pop up. A quick scan to see if there was anything I particularly wanted, but Im a little proud (of myself) that I stuck firm to my list.

    Happy Easter CSers... :)

I noticed it was a bit slower today, maybe because larger range?

good question Robusta, though my choice takings were pre-defined, regardless of surprise offerings - based on the stock of greens stored in my shed, & what I reckoned I needed to further my blending tests ...

    Anyone else had problems?

Yeah, Robusto. A bit of freezing, a few glitches for the first 30 secs or so. Then smooth sailing after that.

Possibly something to do with the size of this months offering?

I dont generally get on well with computers, but have an agreement with mine come Bean Bay time - DONT YOU DARE STUFF UP MY BEAN BAY!!! >:(

And it didnt (after a bit of a stutter). :) There there, computer... good computer.

Thanks, Andy. Great selection and organisation, once again.

Wow a couple of surprises there!! XD

Got my Yemen!! [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] some African drinking chocolate (that sure went quick!) and some Kenya A, which I really enjoyed from CTB (thanks Andy!)

Awesome Beanbay Andy! It went really smoothly. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

    Thanks Andy.

Great fun! Loved the adrenalin with all those extra choices. Ordered up on the triple chocolate, a double Ethiopian and some decaf.

And some advice for things that sell out... Keep an eye out in case anybody removes items from their basket. I noticed the African Red sold out fairly quickly, but then went back up to 1kg for a while, leaving an open opportunity for the astute bargain hunter.

Phew! My first beanbay for a while and I almost forgot. I only wanted some African Chocolate but by then time I remembered it was all gone. But am happy with the Orange chocolate.

Some Harar also sneaked its way into my basket. My other half who is winging his way home tonight is in for a surprise (given I said I wasnt getting it!).

    What an interesting selection tonight.

Yeah when I refreshed the screen just before 9 my time a lot of stuff had vanished whereas before my refresh the bay was still empty.

No dramas though cause I got the chocolates I was after.
