For those people who are considering having their greens delivered to "Dennis", just a note to let you know that youll also be able to pick up from the cuppacoffee roastery on a Saturday morning from 9:00am till 12:30pm.

Nah not behind the times, I was going to deliver the WA beans a month before you guys ordered them... good service eh!

(I have fixed the date, my proof reading at 3am is always going to bad)

That should be really handy for Sydney CSrs looking for an out of business hours pickup and a good coffee!

Re: BeanBay pickup thread - September 2008

Disappointed to see that the only pickups in sydney are way down south. Only realised this when it came to checkout and i saw no "nunu" collection point.

Oh well my stupidity for not looking before i leaped but then when it comes to beanbay you gotta do that if you want the beans.

Anyway Andy in the past i put my hand up for a northern pickup point but at the time you felt there were enough pickups in sydney. If you do want someone in the sydney northern suburbs I am happy to volunteer again.

I am located in St.Ives (near pymble or hornsby). Of course this is up to you, alternatively if someone else is better located maybe they can shout out.

Re: BeanBay pickup thread - September 2008

These are the same Sydney pickup points as last month and this post was up prior to BeanBay so everyone could see where the pickups were.

    A northern pickup point?

Its the same math as always, if you have enough interest then we will try it. The pickup points cost us more than we charge and can only work if there enough volume of beans each month to each of them.

I suggest you start a thread or a poll and see how much interest you can generate, if enough people want one in your area then we will try it for a couple of BeanBay sales to see how it goes.

Aaah theres where i screwed up again - been way too busy at work to read most of these threads and missed last months beanbay so when i got the email saying tuesday 2pm i just hit the ground running.

I will start a thread asking for interest for a northern suburbs pickup point closer to next months beanbay. It is safe to assume nunu no longer will be doing the pickups?

My current schedule doesnt allow me to be a pickup point this month. If next months Beanbay is after the 19th, then I will be available again.

    Hi

I would use a pickup point around Carlingford (nunus) or Hornsby area (anythonyd). I live at Thornleigh.

Nunus cafe was a great pickup for me while it lasted. Jill and I enjoyed a cuppa and a chat with them. Now I get the stash delivered to my parents-in-laws place at Parra by the courier option. A bit pricy for me but oh well. They are retired and get woken up in the morning at 7.30 am by the courier :-) But I do supply them with roasted beans for his little Beville espresso maker so that is the price they have to pay for beans :-)

    ATTN: Those with interstate pickups.

    PAY

I really hate having to waste time chasing payment before we ship the interstate items. Make my life easier and allow other CSrs to get their beans on time by paying straight after BeanBay.

If you dont care about me or others maybe you care about you? Any payments not in our bank when we ship interstate will be left out of the carton and you will have to pay additional freight (might even add a "pain in the bum" fee too.

    ;)

Andy you have outdone yourself again.

Picked up my beans at the PO this morning, opened them to show the "ladies" who keep asking me about them and then roasted a batch of each by late morning.

This is all the more remarkable because there was a snap mail strike at Dandenong so no mail, except Express was getting out, so I was half expecting them not to be there until Monday.

They look great, nice and clean with big puffs of smoke around second crack.

    Looking forward to the cuppings.

    Thanks,

    Good stuff Geoff.

Half the staff at the local business mail centre are called "satchel squeezers". We have caught them bear-hugging the roasted satchels to get the one way valves to release aroma of the roasted beans on more than one occasion.

We did a show and tell with green beans too as they were all curious why the heavy ones (green) didnt smell great when hugged.

    ;)

It wont be long Andy and you will have to show them how to tamper with the contents of those bags (with a tamper that is ;))....

I get a similar response here when the couriers pick up the roasters (complete with sample roast)..... It looks really weird when a macho courier bends over and starts to sniff the boxes..... *and then you hear a quiet "MMMMMM" ;D ;D ;D ;D

And even more strange.... they have started dropping in "as they pass by"..... just to see if there are any for collection......hows that for service!

My beans arrived today, here in WA which I am really pleased about - as we are heading away next week and I had visions of my beans sitting outside all week! :)

Discovered my parcel guy is a budding barista - he was very interested in the beans! Might have to roast him a batch to keep on his good side. 8-)

My POST delivery guy has asked me why my coffees smelled so crap now compare to before, when I explained it to him that they are green beans and not roasted; He told me to start ordering roasted again as he was getting such a kick out of the Aroma. ;D ;D

If there can be a pick up from NUNU for the next beanbay pick up itll be fantastic, as I live in Epping which is just next door to Carlingford. :) :)
Pagewood is a bit far for me, but since I go to Coffeeparts quite often theres no problems. Probably can pick up a burr set for the Superjolly @ work.

Looking forward to heading into the West End in Brisbane to pickup my beans from Veneziano and seeing their new premises. I have arranged to meet up with DickieKnee, who is coming from the Gold Coast at around 10-30, so hope the beans will be there by then. If not, I guess well just have to try some of the coffee if its going. * :) Maybe catch up with some other CSrs there if youre free that morning

KK, I think you might be just around the corner?

    Cheers

    See you all on Friday
Went past Veneziano last week and there seemed a bit of activity in front

They should at the very least be open to receive orders
If not open for Coffee to drink we can still meet to collect the greens

A new Campos has opened in West End down on Melbourne St

I heard from Peter last week that if "the Snobs" can co-ordinate a time on-site he will make sure that you can get a coffee and maybe a special tour of areas not public yet.

So pick a time (Friday or Saturday I guess) and see if enough people can get there at once.

    Thanks Peter.

How wonderful to have Veneziano First Pour established in Brisbane less than a week after I moved here from Melbourne. Great timing! I missed the BeanBay this month, but will come down on Saturday anyway. Bring on the Veneziano Estate blend!

Thats a shame, I will be at work all day Saturday and miss out on the coffee and meet :(. Are the beans still arriving on Friday, and if its not too inconvenient, would I be able to swing past then and pick them up? Otherwise, sometime next week?

Dropped into Veneziano in Brisbanes West End this morning and picked up my beans. Said hello to Peter and some of his staff, big thanks to Jason for the couple of very nice short blacks served up from the La Marzocco. DickieKnee from the Gold Coast turned up as well, and we enjoyed quite some time there chatting and hearing what ideas Peter has for the place.

Sounds like he has some nice surprises for those that make it there to pick up their beans tomorrow (between 10 and 1). Enjoy.

Thanks again for the hospitality Peter *:)

So , i have a crapola $ 50.00 one speed ,one grinder setting *85 gm hopper jobbie.
and i have to say i did open one of the 250 gm bags the ( *sulaweis torajah) * to try with my new baby g from flynnaus (she arrived friday ) didnt do anything over weekend ( coffee wise ) except work that is.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
v good v good , even with my hayfever head ,blocked nose ,not much *taste buds ,
seems very mild to me at moment.( i didn.t even read the descriptions of the variety of coffee) so maybe it is that way but with hayfever it *seems to mask so much enjoyment *from *food and coffee all tastes bland at moment.
but may i say what i could taste was *yum yum .

thanks for a great way to start my coffee snobs secret life.( not so secret to my friends they think im anal about coffee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
what do they know, they drink instant.

look forward to buying a grinder when my finances allow.

Not much beats fresh coffee. Enjoy!

I like the bath idea in your footer Vasanna but suspect that if I started bathing in the stuff my family would really think "I had lost it".

Glad to hear your new Baby delivered for you V.

What are you using for a tamper at the moment? The default plastic one isnt the best so you might wanna add a new tamper to your wish list as well.
