Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Sale
Wednesday 19th Jan
8pm AEDT (East Coast Daylight Savings Time)
8pm ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
The beans available at the above date/times will be:
PNG Kone Ka Estate Peaberry $11/kg inc FairCrack
From shadows of Mt Hagen comes this triple washed Western Highlands Peaberry. Im told by our man on the ground that "Kone Ka" means "nice place" and obviously the coffee plants on this estate agree. *Super clean and easy to roast, keep an eye on it towards the end of the roast as it can run away pretty quickly. *Sweet, drying finish and and works a treat in milk.
Rwanda Gisenyi *$13/kg inc FairCrack
This Fairtrade COOPAC coop coffee comes from the Rutsiro & Rubavu Districts near Gisenyi, Rwanda. *Washed but unscreened the sample roasts were at their best on the high side of CS9. *At that point it was full of cocoa and sultanas at a lighter roast the cocoa was still prominent but the sultana like fruit swapped for citrus. *Roast dark for great espresso, lighter for syphon.
Kenya Kandara AA *$21/kg inc FairCrack
This coffee was processed by the Kandara Farmers Cooperative Society in central Kenya. *Screened to a large AA size this washed and well graded bean roasts really well. *Like many Kenyan coffees it will end up darker for the same given temperature so roast by probe, not your normal colour depth. In the cup it is easily the sweetest Kenyan coffee I have ever tried, amazing as CS10 long black and finishes with crisp green apple acidity. *Expensive but really stunning coffee.

The Bean Bay is on this Wednesday 19th Jan.
so another gathering at claudes old place, thats enough reason for me to order some stuff Andy
i love that Cafe! and Claude does make a great flat white. Sadly i am working on the 22nd so i will have to get the Star Trek guys to deliver. i really should also test them out on my VBM and see if they can make a coffee half as good as Claude ;D.
...as mentioned in a different thread, Claude has sold the cafe and is looking at new options in the city. He is returning for 1 day only for errr, umm, not sure Im allowed to say it out loud but its something special so wear your best duds and brush your hair if you are picking up beans.
I did a special roast of Keffa Han blend last Wednesday so that should be peaking on Saturday for shots. Should be a fun morning.
:( ... you tell us all now Andy!!!! ... i hope i can smell it from South Yarra. ;D
Bad luck Derkdigler,
Just saw the synoptic weather chart for Saturday, and the winds east north east. Sorry to tell you that. :D
Gary at G.
I think I know what the secret is...... ;D Yes some sartorial effort and grooming would help reflect well on all of us I suspect.
Almost wish I didnt have an appointment with Chris at Talk Coffee at 11am!
Thanks Gary, That bag of salt you just droped on my wounds feels much better ;D
Im glad Veneziano in West End Brisbane did not go under the Brisbane River. I found myself thinking of them and many others in the last week. It must have come close
Seems like a good start to the year Andy.
I like suprises too :)
...and I was thinking of you too Rose. Hows work coping? It looked pretty soggy from the aerial shots.Originally Posted by 4949584945464F2A0 link=1295183539/10#10 date=1295313854
The better half just told me that were going out for dinner tomorrow night.
Would it be considered rude if i cancelled? ;)
I think ill just have to break my cardinal rule of mobile phones in restaurants and access the Beanbay that way.
I was certainly hoping it would be from the south west for you as it normally is in the winter (brr). Then for sure you will smell the aromas from Andys or Coffee Cartels, even a Chokito choc smells from Phosphate Road, North Shore. ;)Originally Posted by 7C5D4A535C515F545D4A380 link=1295183539/9#9 date=1295311030
:-? BTW Andy, what is the Keffa Han blend? Will it be available to us or will the suspense build for the next 24 hours?
Gary at G
A quick dash to the loo with all the other CSrs and restaurant staff at 19:59 might be on the cards.Originally Posted by 191919530 link=1295183539/13#13 date=1295320815
A custom blend that Claude was running in the Port Melbourne cafe. Like all of the CoffeeSnobs cafe custom blends you cannot buy them direct but often the cafe owner will sell you some "under the counter" if you know the secret handshake. You can try it in his next cafe, the next time you come to Melbourne.Originally Posted by 203A373624322A2020530 link=1295183539/14#14 date=1295328677
Have put him on my diary for next time im in Melbourne thanks Andy.
Looking forward to picking a selection of beans on tommorows Beanbay sales for next Beanbay pick up and will do a KJM ish blend. :)

bloody hell I need a job, sucks when I cant figure out what day it is and changing my operating system set it a day forward and I didnt notice!!!
shapeshifter? Could be a name change to timeshifter on the cards!
Do you have tomorrows lotto numbers please?
The top of the forum has the date and time and Bean Bay works from it (stratum 2 time server = very accurate time) so sync your PC to the forum time for an exact BeanBay start.
Oi you can all stop laughing at me now *;D
Should I admit to being blonde too...although a natural blonde at that!!!
I call it a trial run, I had 3 pages open at different levels of the page, all ready to go, to snap up what I found interesting :)
ShapeShifter, if it makes you feel any better I thought it was today too. More specifically, I thought today was Wednesday.

The good news is that a really excellent "nice place peaberry" did clear today and we have plenty of it to go around (half a tonne!). Ive edited it into the first post in this thread.
Wellllllllllllllllllll, ummm are you sitting on a cushion on the floor I had a laugh, I am descended on both sides from Irish ancestors ;)
How is she making it?Originally Posted by 6311115255484F46210 link=1295183539/17#17 date=1295341037
Seems there are a number of different methods that CSrs are using including making per cup and making the whole lot at once and keeping in the fridge. Some are even grinding it first to expose more flavours faster.
Done and dusted another great selections thanks Andy..
Great selection again Andy, thank you.
I must say I do miss the frenzy of yester year watching the Available now button change into Kilos left with every page refresh ;)
3 out of 4 that I wanted to get, this was a quiet beanbay
will there be some orange pekoe tea again or something similar, sounded like it would be nice to try
PNG, Kenyan and some double dutch cocoa will do me for now though :P
Newbie here not sure where to go to look/buy the monthly green bean sale.* Thank you in advance.
Near the top left of screen - big green button says "Green Coffee"
Click on Bean Bay to the left side of the screen..Originally Posted by 062A3920141826223F234B0 link=1295183539/31#31 date=1295428251

same style but I was talking about the sumatran one
well and truly over beanbay budget this time so itll have to wait now
Thanks Andy. Great selection once again. Doubt the service would be as good in Europe if I move back to Ireland sometime in the future. Availability of great coffee could be the deciding factor :)
I doubt I would be sending it to Ireland! *Its bad enough dealing with govt bodies bringing beans in... I dont need the agro sending them out too.Originally Posted by 183616342721343B550 link=1295183539/37#37 date=1295437359
I know a good bean supplier in the UK if you do move though.
I hope so. *It was a good un.Originally Posted by 253D273A26212C373A3C550 link=1295183539/30#30 date=1295428243
I have a pile of interesting Sumatran and Sulawesi beans on the way into the country in a mixed shipment but sadly no tea in this lot. *If it appears again I will grab some though.
With the Snobbery II we have plenty more storage and a forklift to unload so we are landing a lot more beans when we can. *The Kenyan this month was always going to sell before midnight as we could only afford to import a small quantity of it.Originally Posted by 172037373436203939303B64550 link=1295183539/29#29 date=1295428168
We have a lot of interesting beans in very small quantities on the way and most of those will disappear "like the good ol days" in seconds with a barrage of "Andy, I missed out" emails, posts and PMs
...I dont miss that part of the BeanBay sale at all!
Mostly we try and offer fewer varieties so we can carry more stock of each into the following month. *That allows people to come back to something that they really liked after roasting it first time.
Its always a juggle!
My mum prepares the chai the way you suggest on the packet, tweaked amounts too her taste. She loves it.
I look forward to receiving my latest beanbay purchase.
Hey thanks Andy for the great service...Dunno how you do it.
Ordered my beans yesterday, and they arrived first thing this morning via Startrack.
"So what" some may say, but on the NW coast of Tassie that is better than Aust Post, and cheaper too.
Thanks again Andy for the cracking service. My Ceja de Selva and PNG Peaberry are already sitting in my office ready for a roasting tonight!
PS what were the surprises? I didnt see anything when I logged on at 8.03pm? :-?
Yes you did, the PNG Peaberry was one. The others - well who hasnt been paying attention then? ;)Originally Posted by 342A323F292A31305E0 link=1295183539/41#41 date=1295565350

I thought we were a bit short on surprises as well, the PNG was one I didnt see listed so made sure I scored some of that one - the last one I got from andy was lovely
Thanks again Andy. I look forward to my 12.5kg of beans. :)
Spent the last 2 months in europe and struggled to find decent coffee.
Even in coffee roasting cafes etc.
If you want the job done properly, do it yourself ;)
Thanks again Andy. Picked up my 10kg beans this morning. Am loving the COFFEESNOBS stamp on the box - reminds me of the ACME boxes the Coyote in Roadrunner cartoons would receive! 8-)
Have just placed my order and looking forward to some new flavours.
I dont have a CS card as yet, are you able to slip it in with my order? I didnt see a prompt for it on the order page but might have looked crooked.
In the last month or two weve become completely reliant on these roasts, done weekly. Thanks to you and the site.
Welcome to Coffeesnobs! *
Youre better off sending an e-mail to Andy (andy@coffeesnobs...) - he doesnt check all the threads all the time.
CS member cards are in the other stuff section of beanbay - but are sold out at the moment...frustrating, as my kids have stolen mine!
Enjoy the coffee journey.

Its in the Other Stuff section and you need to add it to your cart when doing your order.
Youll be able to do it on your next order.
The system basically knows which users do not yet have a card and should allow you to add it to your cart for free. Replacement cards cost $5 I think.
