I your opinion, how does the Elephant Hills stack up against MM?
Monthly Green Bean BeanBay
Thursday 17th November
Im pretty sure the overly complicated daylight savings timezones translate to:
8:00pm ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
The new beans that will appear in BeanBay at the above times are:
Nicaragua Mombacho SHG (Strictly High Grown) is a fully washed, clean processed bean. Shipped in grain-pro it arrived in great condition and is really stable to roast through a range of roast depths. Lighter roasts produced Brazil nut flavour while the darker CS9-10 bought the creamy body to the cup with a long, lingering finish. Great Central American coffee. $11.50/kg*
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Special Prep
Yirggy, Yirggy, Yirg! We have just landed more of the special prep, double sort Yirgacheffe. Very well screened and hand graded (twice) it produces an amazing aroma off the grinder and is full of florals in the cup. Great at a CS8 light roast but still interesting at a CS9 where the body improves and you get more cocoa tones in the cup. An exciting and interesting coffee in espresso based drinks or using other brew methods like drip, plunger and syphon. $12.50/kg*
India Elephant Hills Grade A
This is the first time that we have landed this direct trade Indian coffee. The Elephant Hills coffee hails from the Thalanar region well known for growing coffee, citrus and cardamom. Well processed and screened to A grade this is an easy coffee to roast and works well as a single origin or as a base for a traditional Italian style blend. Super sweet and quite bold in milk based drinks and should become a favourite of CSrs everywhere. 11.00/kg*
* price per kilo packed in 2.5kg CoffeeSnobs cotton bags and includes the FairCrack $0.50/kg donation.
You can select direct shipping via Australia Post and Star Track Express along with some other options depending on where you live or you can collect your paid order from...
Pickup Points (one per state)

TAS - "ParaM" – Hobart
SA - Fiefys Specialty Cafe - Adelaide

We hope to get beans to the pickup points by: 25/11/2011
This delivery date is a best guess as we are often at the whim of couriers around the country. Generally when the beans arrive at the pickup point someone will post in this thread to let you know the time/date that you should meet for the pickup.
Please dont annoy the pickup points by asking for your beans before they let you know in this thread they are available for collection.

Freight forwarders, AQIS and couriers work to random time schedules... if it arrives today it will go into BeanBay else it will wait till the next one.Originally Posted by 43584B545F310 link=1321456314/3#3 date=1321492405

Specific BeanBays, such as the November 2011 one advised today, have their own thread.
MMM! Chocolaty aftertaste, sweet palate, and no need for a machine! ;DOriginally Posted by 052A203D440 link=1321456314/4#4 date=1321495366
...arrived this afternoon, packing it now ready for BeanBay tonight (cut it super fine!)Originally Posted by 6E756679721C0 link=1321456314/3#3 date=1321492405
Timor-Leste Liquica. Anyone who can remember the wild, road-side picked, rough sorted East Timor coffees from 5 and 6 years ago would be stunned to see just how far our near neighbour has come in processing. This coffee is washed and very well processed which makes it easy to roast. In the cup at CS9 it had a big body and ripe fruit sweetness finishing with a drying acidity that made the flavours linger. This is an exciting coffee from a region that depends on coffee for income, coffees like this will put them on the world stage. $11.50/kg*
Exciting - I like the sound of the Timor-Leste Liquica :)
Im also running low on Peru which is a favourite.
All ordered and money transferred.
Ive been trying my best to not buy beans for a while (ive got a ridiculous amount already) but i wanted to get a peripheral item and given shipping is the same either way, i couldnt help but throw in a bag of the Timor-Leste beans, along with a bag of the Sulawesi Blue from a previous BeanBay.
Im sure i can find a hiding spot for the two new bags ;)
All done & paid, Peru, Nic* & East Timor. Too easy :)
Ahhh....thats better. 10kg of Andys finest!
Yirg for me this round, Im limiting myself which is really quite hard to do :(
But I love Yirg.
Ive won that battle, I dont have to stash away in secrecy anymore, hubby now is quite appreciative of his "better than bought" daily caffine fix :DOriginally Posted by 0B0B0B410 link=1321456314/8#8 date=1321520810
Nice work Coffee Mum and Im sure hubby has become a CoffeeSnob too, not drinking coffee at friends houses, checking to see whats on offer before saying yes....Originally Posted by 000C050506063C0E160E630 link=1321456314/12#12 date=1321521129
Glad everyone is getting on okay and grabbing ewhat they wanted. We have good volumes of all the beans this month so they shouldnt disappear today.
WOOT.. Thanx Andy.
A Bag of each please :)
Done and dusted.
I tried Yirg for the first time Yesterday. WOW. I am really keen on it. Real orangey floral taste with a chocolatey hint. The Timor sounds very interesting. Glad it came through :)
Of to make a cuppa (Yirg ) 8-)
Love your work ;)
Nice work - sounds interesting.Originally Posted by 7758524F360 link=1321456314/6#6 date=1321517712
My better half is very appreciative and accepting, but the understanding tends to wear a little thin when youve enough beans in your stash to keep a small cafe supplied for a good chunk of time. ;DOriginally Posted by 323E373734340E3C243C510 link=1321456314/12#12 date=1321521129
Beans for Hobart will be picked up when delivered but will not be available till December 4 when I get back to organise delivery or pick up.
Only took me an hour and a half to figur eout what beans to get, managed to whittle my selection down to 5 ;D
10kg of Harrar Longberry to bolster the dwindling stocks :) :) :)
$230 wisely invested. ;)
Okay, okay... Will try the Yirg, and squeezed a bit more for a Yemen Mocha... I guess I should thank you for making it pricey enough so theres some left for me to try?
Thanks Andy for another great bBay.
5 kg of the Yirg and 5kg of Elephant Hills ordered and paid up. Will be really interested to see how the Hills roast up compared to the malabar (no, not M&Ms! ;)) Ill try to remember to post my roasting outcomes on the forum too.
Peru and Nic Momba ordered. Yum
Welll its been a crazy few days of packing Bean Bay orders (till after 10pm each night!). Most are in the post already or in the van waiting for the post office to open. The rest will get packed today and tomorrow.
Sunday roast today so Ive just closed the pickup points as all the interstate beans will ship tomorrow.
Melbourne pickup point will stay open till Wednesdays roast day (because I drive em up next Saturday).
Happy beans everyone!
I received my order before 9 this morning, thanks Andy (& Aussie Post) and have just finished roasting the Nic & East Timor, both were really nice to roast, looking forward to tasting them.
Love the lighter gauge wire on the ties, much kinder on arthritic fingers :)
Just ordered some Timor-Leste Liqucia.... be interesting to see how our northern neighbors coffee handles in the popper and the cup...
Mm beans. Cant believe there was still some Al Haaj left. Had to buy some :)
Another 12.5kg of fun.
Lightning fast as usual. Cheers Andy!

I just hid in the back of the van until the rain stopped ;D
Thanks Andy, although I think there may be something wrong with the bag marked PNG Eastern Highland Wilds, I think you may have accidentally given me the beans you swept up off the floor ;D
Im glad you warned me.....
Bling arrived today (I know this is not the right thread :)) If anyone has a few kilos they need ground, let me know, I need to season the beast* 8-)

Ok... Not sure if Im barking up the right coffee tree here, but I picked up some Nicaragua COE from greenbay this week and Im after some more info on same including lot no, the altitude and growing conditions of the coffee, and a bit of info on how it is processed - anyone able to help with that?
Ill see what info I have buried... I remember it scored 87 dot something.
Any update on the Brisbane pickup?
