Gee you sneaked that one in, didnt you?
Just out of curiosity how much beans do you guys normally get all together? Im having a difficult time deciding how much to get and which to get... Ahh..
A Mandehling and a Yirgacheffe... cheers Andy, youve made my day!
I was being selfish, they are really for me but I thought I could share someA Mandehling and a Yirgacheffe... cheers Andy, youve made my day!
Snuck it in?
Yes, sort-of. I had always hoped that 2/3rds into Jan we could post the Feb BeanBay but it has been a real struggle with suppliers and freight companies having their "post Christmas / summer lazy" season.
So... once again, sorry but sometimes its out of my hands.
Now this will sort out the serious CS bean hounds.....
Waiting.... waiting... 50 minutes to go!
Ive missed a few polls because ive been either inundated with beans, low on cashola or too disorganised to get in here at the right time but ive been waiting for the non decaf yirg to come back around for a long time. It was in my starter pack a over a year ago, and Ive gotten little amount of it from time to time since but gees its a good cup.
You are spoiling us though andy - mandheling and yirg? Wow.
I was being facetious, sarcastic, or whatever...I am wrapped, looking forward to it.
Yes I knew that Geoff, I just felt the need for an additional public apology in the hope that it starves-off the hate mail.
Hi Andy- any tasting notes in advance to help us choose what we wanna buy?
Ironic was the other one I couldnt think of, the heat is getting to me.
Hey, remember, you can please some of the people some of the time, etc...
Are you hoping to get all the mea culpas out of the way so you will have time to bag the orders?
Done!! Got my Mandheling :) :) :)
Paid by PayPal
That certainly went smoothly - none of the slow-downs Ive seen at zero-hour in earlier months, though perhaps the masses havent quite flocked in yet. I finished off the Mandheling in my starter pack just a few weeks ago and loved every bit of it, so I cant wait to get my mitts on these :)
The server performance was fine.... and we had 72 bean hounds in the Bay as well.
I hit refresh right on 10pm and went straight for the Mandheling. I did get one error while trying to add a different bean but after I hit refresh it was all good :-)
More late night, last minute forums I reckon, keeps the riff raff out, and only those genuine coffeesnobs fans who check their e-mail every half hour in the loop....even my slow at home broadband could hack the pace!!
Thanks Andy, order placed and money transferred, should be in your bank account tomorrow.
I feel soooo naughty; 10kgs of Yig and Sumatran!
How am I gonna stash 20kgs of green bean without being caught?
I did have one false star, got to checkout and my cart was empty, got it on the second go. I deducted the shipping charge because it didnt acknowledge Everton Park as a "Free" destination. Hope this is OK
Yep, fantastically smooth, got my habit or should I say addiction satisfied.
Phew - that was close. My lappy died 2 days ago, I was punching in the network key on the replacement just minutes before launch. Supplies now back to a sustainable level.
Well done Andy and thanks again. Everytime those beans arrive I am amazed at the contribution individuals make for the benefit of members.
Hey, Im a bit confused about the delivery situation. I live in metropolitan sydney, is there an option to pick it up from from oxford st for a dollar per kilo you order? If you just want it delivered approx how much does it cost per kilo?
Sorry, totally new to this. :)
Oh... and is there a decaf bean this month?
nice one. beanbay seemed to go pretty smooth. although i couldnt load the page for a bit. otherwise, not a hitch :D
Bean a while since I bought some green, and wasnt going to this time either, as I still have a small mountain from my previous adventures in the polls. But the Nicaragua Maragogype SHG was just too tempting.
I added to my cart, but when I went to check-out I got a DB error, something about "touching my cart" :o
Tried to refresh a few times, in the end I had had to close browser, clear browser cache, then it let me go back into BeanBay, where I checked out, payed with PayPal and its all DONE.
Love the BeanBay. So easy, so simple, so much fun ;D
Got mine. Saw a few errors, ASP.net errors always remind me of my work ...
Now my bank wont let me in to Internet Banking to pay. Bugger.
Kind of ironic....
The poster of the "January BeanBay" message is no-where to be seen!!
Yes, tis a new record for members online at one time and this is the first BeanBay for the new server. Im happy to say it did it with ease (which is just as well after the outlay on hardware at Christmas)Originally Posted by JavaB link=1169112099/0#13 date=1169118643
We also have miles of beans this month so it should be a little less of a frenzy I hope.
I was about to pack it in for the night, when I checked my email.... holy crap a beanbay on NOW!
Got in and secured a few interesting looking specimens.
Hmmm... very strange. I just tested that and it worked fine. Selected the free option for QLD and it didnt charge for shipping. Maybe you are special?Originally Posted by Presso link=1169112099/15#16 date=1169118723
Dont worry, he is about, busy shopping me thinks.Kind of ironic....

I felt sorry for him and called his mobile and gave him a "heads up";)
Yes, there is a sponsored pickup point at Di Bartoli Coffee Center for $1 per kilo, (you will see the option on checkout).Originally Posted by Judith link=1169112099/15#19 date=1169118974
If you want it shipped to your address then it goes via express post... 3kg satchel for $10, 5kg satchel for $15 (or whatever multiples of those it takes to pack your order).
Once again, the checkout process shows the shipping calculations for the beans you have ordered.
It all worked perfectly for me. The hardest part was having to explain to the wife why I needed another 7.5 kg of beans after she bought me 2 kg of Ethiopian Harrar on Monday.....
Thanks Andy ...
Was a bit of a shock to see the email with only an hours notice!!!
Missed out on the Costa Rican ...
But did get some of the Sumatran Mandheling which I have been hanging out for, and got some of the Ethiopian Yirgocheffe (??) to try.
Funds have been transferred to your account.
I only want a small amount...2.5kg is slightly too much for me :(
If someone is willing to go halves in the Ethiopian Yirg, as I would love to try some of this, I would be happy to pay the $10 or $15 that it works out to.
I am going on Saturday to the advanced coffee pour at Veneziano Cafe, I can meet someone there if they would like.
Hey Linda,Originally Posted by Maccas_chicka link=1169112099/30#32 date=1169122339
Im always keen to try the various types of Yirg, so Ill put in an order and we can sort it all out later.

Green beans if stored in a cool dry place in the bags in which they are shipped will last 3 years!Originally Posted by poddy66 link=1169112099/30#34 date=1169124164
So plenty of time to perfect your roasting skills ;)
Hows this...I have 2.5kg from my starter pack. I got another 200 odd grams of Cuban (from the only bag in Australia atm I believe!). I just ordered 2.5kg of Yirg and Ive still to sort out my roaster which I am tweaking!
That would be great! 2mcm has 500 grams of it for me, so whatever you want to let me buy from you would be excellent.
This was my first Bean Bay and it went very smoothly.
I logged in about 1/2 hour after it started and there was more than enough left to choose from.
I was still trying to figure out delivery when my daughter asked for a lift to a friends place as they were going out.
When I got back just after 11:00pm the beans Id decided on were still there.
I noticed I could choose to pick up from Di Bartoli and I was planning to visit Renzo and Ofra soon anyway.
But then I noticed the date/time. I have a lunch invite that day up Gosford way so I opted for the satchel this time.
I chose a minimum of the Yirg and Sumatran.
My PayPal account was in credit so payment was made in a flash.
Im looking forward to trying these two beans that I havent before.
All in all, no computer lag. Transaction was smooooooth as.
TG, the day of pickup isnt firm. You can pickup from Di Bartoli anytime after the specified date/time. I go the Monday after, since it is my day off.
Save yourself some cash, and go pick them up. Theyre happy to hold onto them until its most convenient for you. Some peoples bags were still there when I picked mine up last time.
Luca, do you think Id be able to do the same. Im not available on the Saturday of the pick up but have Mondays off...
Bean bay was sweet as tonight Andy. Thanks for the Heads-Up Rob, he really caught me by surprise. LOVE the beans on offer though - got 10kg of the Yirg :) :) :) and 5kg of the mand :)
Happy little grendel.
Here it was 1230 at nght and I thought I would have missed it all but managed to get the yirgacheffe. Didnt even check email tonight and was heading off to bed.
Wondering where I am going to hide it from OG.
But we are in Coffee heaven for awhile now.
Well, well, well....
I just got home after night shift and am winding down, so I thought Id see what was happening on CS. Lo and behold a Bean Bay!!!!! Just Brilliant! >:( Looks like all the "good" stuff has been snapped up. Thanks for the heads up. :(
;D Im excited ;D
For those who missed out, try 50/50 Mexican and Honduran as a pre-roast blend....It travels really well! Last time I dabbled with this I got good chocolatey tones, some earth and nuttiness.

My mum always said I travelled on the special bus to my special school cause I was special. In fact I thought until recently that special dogs did special white dry poos.
I found the error, it was mine. I was so pumped for the transaction I missed the shipping option, changed my shipping details to "Corettos" and proceeded, leaving my cart empty, then I did the whole thing again.
Im sorry for stuffing that up Andy, I hope it doesnt cause too many problems.
Just snagged some Bali Gunung Agung and Tanzania Arumeru Estate - the left overs!!
My hubby was just asking when the next bean bay was cause were running low and I said shouldnt be far off... low and behold the day that I dont go into work and Andy springs it on us. Only found out about bean bay this morning.
Glad there was still some left. Thanks Andy. Looking forward to trying something new.
Missed out on the Yirg at 4am, it was all gone :(
Too bad..... :(
I though the bean bay only start on february and missed out most of my dream bean (Nicaragua Maragogype, Mandheling, and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe>:(, )
Now can only try the honduras and mexico blend (as suggested by 2mcm ;D) and waiting for next poll.
