Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Release - SUNDAY 2nd December 2012 - 8pm AEST

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Release

    SUNDAY 2nd December 2012
    20:00 AEDT

    8:00pm ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
    7:00pm QLD
    7:30pm SA
    6:30pm NT
    5:00pm WA
(I'm pretty sure thats the correct daylight savings times)

The new release beans that will appear in BeanBay are:

    Panama Finca Arkapal $10.50/kg*
Panama Finca Arkapal is well processed, clean washed coffee that's quite dense and pretty easy to control in the roaster. Floral aromas and bright style with a good body as an espresso. It would lend itself to lighter roasts for syphon or filter (for those that need that) but it worked really well at a CS9 depth as a mid roast depth espresso too.

    Guatemala Huehuetenango $11.50/kg*

Guatemala Huehuetenango is a high grown and well processed coffee meeting the SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) standard. Bright and lively granny smith type acidity when roasted to CS8 roast depths which tapers off as you take it darker into CS9. Mid bodied espresso shots that really cut through the taller milk drinks with dry, clean finish. Excellent Central American coffee with a good sized CS fan club.

Sumatra Lake Toba AGED Peaberry $12.50/kg*

Sumatra Lake Toba AGED Peaberry is an odd looking bean. It appears to be half roasted already but that just due to the aging process that these beans go though. In the cup you find a bold and very low acidity coffee. Can be used as an interesting and earthy single origin but works best in a blend to "punch it up" and provide a big heavy body.

    * price per kilo packed in 2.5kg CoffeeSnobs cotton bags and includes the FairCrack $0.50/kg donation.

You can select direct shipping via Australia Post (express or road) and Star Track Express (air or road) along with some other options depending on where you live or you can collect your paid order from Morgan Street (when I'm there, late afternoons preferred).

    Pickup Points (one per state)
(only an available option for a couple of days either side of the sale date).

QLD - "Simon T" - Brissy (Sorry, due to silly season no QLD pickup in DEC)
    NSW - Erkochurch - Erskinville
    TAS - "ParaM" Hobart
SA - Fiefys Specialty Cafe - Adelaide
    WA - "Greeman" - Warwick
VIC - Veneziano- Abbotsford (Sat 15th 10:30-11:30 only)

We hope to get beans to all the pickup points by: 14/12/2012

This delivery date is a best guess as we are often at the whim of couriers around the country. Generally when the beans arrive at the pickup point someone will post in this thread to let you know the time/date that you should meet for the pickup.

Please don't annoy the pickup points by asking for your beans before they let you know in this thread they are available for collection.

    Enjoy!

    Andy.

I probably asked you this but I can't remember your answer.

Is the Arkapal much different from the Geisha?

So do I, so much faster to fill and seal and the square bag is easier to get into satchels and cartons too.

Very similar in style, the floral grind is very much the same but as an espresso this has better body.

...you and many others too. It has quite a fan club including Javaphile who rates it as one of his fav's.

Greenman will set a date for the pick up and will post in this thread when the beans get to WA. Typically he picks a Saturday afternoon a couple of weekends after the green bean release (which is tonight).

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for some new Green Beans. I'm after just a standard espresso blend which will work great in Lattes. A similar blend or bean which you'd find in your standard cafe? One which majority of people will enjoy. If someone could recommend me some it would be appreciated.

Checkout the CS topic: "Blending Room" , there's heaps of great stuff............... 321 threads.
If you have further questions, post them in that topic but I think you'll get plenty of info to make a start,
including blends made from beans in the current BeanBay menu.
Take note of the way blends are structured, this will help you select beans from the different BeanBay offerings
that Andy puts up through the year. Use your palate as your benchmark.

    Enjoy the ride. 8-)
