Oh no!  Im out of green beans!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi,

Im just a newbie roaster, but Im already addicted to roasting and I am officially out of green beans. What do I do now? I plan on stocking up during the next bean bay poll, but until then, can anyone recommend a good (and not too expensive) green bean supplier? Also, any recommendations for specific green beans from the supplier would be appreciated.

    Many thanks, Mary

    Hi Mary,

You will never find a bean supplier that will be able to compete with coffeesnobs, but coffee hit and pioneer both do green online. If youre ordering from either, it is probably also worth your while ordering some brown to tide you over, too!

    Cheers,

    Luca

    Very cheeky Viviane.
    ;D

I might have to talk about the great job that Essendon will do on the Wednesday footy match just so that a moderator deletes or moves this thread now.

Oh no, Im out of rested BROWN beans. And therefore compelled to survive on freshly-roasted sundry SOs.

So bitter 10 hours after emerging smokin from the barbecue that it required milk and sugar to make it drinkable.

And this morning, almost 24 hours post roast, the Indian Tiger Mountain wasnt any better. Acrid crema from top to bottom.

But what are the alternatives? Buy some stale beans and go to the other extreme?

Or ab....ab....abstain for a few days?

Reminds me of the WC fields diatribe:

There we were, in the wilds of Afghanistan (pre-Taliban). We hadnt been gone but two days when we lost our corkscrew, and we were compelled to survive on food and water for two weeks.

Hi Robusto- if ever that happens to me, I roast SO ethiopian- preferably dry hulled...They seem to degas quicker and are "interesting" when fresh....

I have been in that situation as well Robusto. But I have the luxury of not having to drive too far to a roaster that has fresh coffee. So I take the opportunity to try a professional roast in my machine as a guide to see how my roasts compare to the pros.

If you are not near a quality roaster it is obvious that you cant just pop down and buy some nice brown beans. As you say I would rather drink something too fresh than getting something stale.

I hope the rest of the waiting period isnt too stressful for you.
