    BeanBay - Raffle.

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi CS’rs,

A few of you know that once upon a time (pre-kids) I raced a motorbike, in fact it was a big bore, nitrous oxide breathing drag bike. Having left the sport nearly 10 years ago to have kids (and I vow to return when they are big enough to come and pit crew for me) I have tried to keep an eye on the racing scene. Over the last few years without a professional racing track in Victoria that has been quite hard and last year I had the opportunity to part sponsor an up and coming pro-bike which I did.

The Parker Racing Team is a family affair with (Dad) Phil and (Son) Sam both running new bikes this season in different brackets all over the country.

So what does this seemingly off topic banter have to do with coffee?

Well, Parker Racing this month have a raffle for all of their sponsors customers… so that means you guys!

Anyone who bought more than $50 of coffee in last months BeanBay will find a free raffle ticket in with their beans. (It was meant to be $100 but because of our unusual monthly sales cycle its $50)

The details below came from Parker Racing:

    [hr]

    PARKER RACING
In support of their sponsors are offering customers of CoffeeSnobs Free Entry to our raffle for a trip for two to the Winter Nationals Drag Racing Championship at Willowbank Raceway Queensland in June 2007.

The prize consists of return air fares, accommodation and entry to the biggest drag racing meeting outside of North America.

With any purchase to the value of $100 or more you may enter our raffle by emailing your ticket number and your details to comp#dragrace.com.au (change the # to @) before the 30th of April 2007. E-mails must be from a valid E-mail address and winners will be notified by e-mail. You will also receive regular updates from Parker Racing prior to and after each race meeting or appearance. You will also receive special offers on great deals from many of our sponsors.

    [hr]

So... dont forget to email in your ticket numbers when you get them. Good luck CSrs it would be great to see one of our members grab the prize.

    Re: BeanBay - Raffle.

Total inc. freight, or just $50 of coffee?
I suppose I should wait and see...
EDIT - I just read more of the post and saw what the prize was - WOW that would be cool!!!
On the topic of bikes, a few weeks ago I got mine serviced, got them to put a smaller sprocket on the front - less top speed (not that I notice) but you get there heaps quicker, much more useable in town instead of having to ride the clutch for anything below 20 kph, easily get wheelspin (if desired) coming out of bends / sweepers, power on over a rise and the front wheel is up, even in 4th at +100 speeds... Loads of fun... Anyone that has a Sprint should do this.
    2 problems -
Now I need new tyres, and as I was grinning and raving about "having an extra cylinder...", the wife hasnt been on the back since. Its not that I have to, I say... Like I can ride it like you wouldnt notice... ;)

Errrm, why hasnt she got her own bike? Its more fun to ride your own. More girls should be riding bikes (I hate being a pillion now).

Looking forward to getting the ticket Andy, I love bikes, I love bike racing (of any type) I love riding bikes and I love boys with bikes BUT I live with a gardener who grew up with bikes and is not as enthusiastic as me.

5 foot 1, cant touch the ground from a postie bike... *;)
Seriously, shes not interested, shes happy on the back with me, and I am happy for her to go on the back, because tho she doesnt really know it, I can ride about as hard with her on the back as I do without her, perhaps only pushing the lean angles a bit more by myself and getting the power slide with blackies going a bit more...
A few weeks ago I had a couple of GSXR1000s behind me, they were happy behind me for about half hour of twisty stuff then we stopped, they stopped, and we chatted. It was then that I learned that I leave "lots of blackies" and my brakes stink...
And that was with her on the back!
As for encouragement, well when I met her it was at a bike course, she was doing her learners. I got the courage to ask her out... been married 7 years now... But to the point, she was only there as she was with a friend who WANTED to do it, so although she enjoyed it and got her Ls, that was it.
We talk about it now and then but it seems she has no interest.

Youre welcome to call in and talk to her though...
    And come for a ride!

Well.... it was really meant to be on $100 sales according to Parker Racing, the $50 was our fudge because the tickets started just after our last BeanBay and this BeanBay overlaps the ticket period too.

EDIT - I just read more of the post and saw what the prize was - WOW that would be cool!!!
Yes, tis an excellent prize for a free raffle in true CoffeeSnob tradition. We have some fantastic free raffles around here (I just wish I was allowed to win some of them).

The tickets were placed with orders as we packed them. The $50 was without freight when we packed them because we didnt know how many tickets we had access to. Now most of the beans have freighted we can see that we will have a few handfuls of tickets leftover so if you spent around that figure this month or last month and didnt get a ticket when your beans arrived then please send an email to me (andy@coff....) with Parker Racing Raffle in the subject line and we will alocate em on a random basis until they are all gone.

    Cant be fairer than that!

uhhmmm ...no, Andy, didnt know that, but will admit that in your pic somehow you manage to look like a someone who rides/rode.... ;)

for all of the non-riders: doing an early morning run up and down a mountain-twisty with a a couple of really good short blacks under your belt spells "caffeine high" in many a-varied way!!

but i suppose this runs borderline "off-topic"...

The web site is a work in progress I think.

Im sure the Parkers wished they were that close. Its a long tow from here with two bikes, 5 crew and miles of gear but they do it many times a year in the name of having fun at the strip.

Great track and friendly locals makes for a great day out.
