woohoo my birthday! :D
This is the thread for banter about the Sydney pickup. *
For the first time ever we will be using two of our site sponsors (Di Bartoli and Coffeeparts) as pickup points. * We will trial it to see how it goes.
Dont let this stop you from organising a CoffeeSnob get together though!
I would hope that the beans will be in Sydney by Saturday 14th July.
woohoo my birthday! :D
...and the day before my wifes.
If I get beans I would love to be part of a get together, even if I dont I would still be up for a catch up. My vote would be for a morning pickup so it doesnt interfere with sport though, shocking that I am allowing sport to get in the way of my bean supply ;)
What are others thoughts?
Yeah I too think its shocking that youd let something as mundane as sport to interfere with coffee.
Not too be a pedant, and it may not matter anyway. But the 15th of July is actually a Sunday not a Saturday as stated in the initial post. If Dennis house is the location of choice than I could do a Sunday as we have morning and night church near the Shire. So my updated votes will be Saturday morning or between 11:30am and 4:30pm Sunday of the weekend 14th to 15th of July.
if i recall from all the to-ing and fro-ing about the June beanbay, that Denis had offered his home as the pickup point this time around?
I think thats the best idea as we all need to get together and work out what we are going to do from here on out. So i vote for the beans to be delivered to Denis and we all pick up from his place in Sylvania.
My offer from last month of ferrying beans still stands.
My offer is still open folks, though I understand that Andy has the last word.
As I understand it, the initial pickup point is either COFFEEPARTS or DIBARTOLI.
However from there, there is an option to be picked up from either Hazchem or Denis.
So in essence, people have FOUR OPTIONS for pickup: Coffeeparts, DiBartoli, Denis and Hazchem.
Is this pretty much it?
Nope, thats not it.Originally Posted by moy71 link=1182162745/0#8 date=1182236483
At the moment, the July delivery will go to Coffeeparts and Bi Bartoli...full stop!
For some reason I was under the impression that even if Dennis was offering to host a pickup that the beans would go to DiBartoli first?
I can send them anywhere thats needed and this month we will try a double option.
CoffeeParts / Dennis
CoffeeParts / DiBartoli
Di Bartoli / Dennis
Whatever works for you guys!
I know a few people requested a CoffeeParts pickup as the parking and location was good.
Sheesh, sometimes written communication can become confusing!
Hope this clarifies...
1. Im happy to have beans delivered to my workplace at SEFTON, Mon-Fri, 9 till 5.
2. We can arrange for beans to be collected from Sefton (though keep in mind this is a home/office type of place and cant have droves coming through ;)
3. I can also drop off any beans as required to CoffeeParts (if required)
4. The remaining beans can come home with me to Sylvania - folks are welcome to drop in for a morning or afternoon tea on the weekend or can pick up during a weekday evening.
So, all said and done, maybe a Di Bartoli / Dennis delivery would work for everyone?
ps. just noticed you had a recent birthday Andy - all the best...my experience is that things just get better and better once you hit 40! And have you lost weight mate, or just that the beard is getting longer? :P ;D
Sounds good (and clear) to me!Originally Posted by Dennis link=1182162745/0#11 date=1182244562
IMHO, the pickup point is only of concern if one can obtain said beans, once they, (said beans), have availed themselves before the ravenous hordes that dwell in the Beanbay. *:P ;D
Maybe longer, certaily more [s]grey[/s] silver highlights. And have you lost weight mate, or just that the beard is getting longer?
So, if we offer a "Dennis / DiBartoli" delivery and a CoffeeParts option then we would have covered all the options pretty well and you dont have to move all the beans around.
Please note the following enhancement/alteration to point 3 thanks to Hazchem!Originally Posted by Dennis link=1182162745/0#11 date=1182244562
3. I can also drop off any beans as required to CoffeeParts (if required). Hazchem, who works in North Ryde and lives in the Inner West is also happy to drop off beans to people in those areas as well.
All going well, its my understanding that the beans destined for Sydney will be here by Saturday the 14th July.
Andy has kindly agreed to split the delivery to CoffeeParts and my office at Sefton. Ill let everyone know when they have arrived at Sefton and all being well would be happy to host a brunch at our home (Sylvania) on Saturday 14th.
I thought maybe...bacon and egg rolls, sticky buns, coffee (yirg) and might even have some exotic tea depending on whats available on beanbay! No need to have ordered beans ...if you would like to stop by for the brunch or meet others, you would be very welcome. Ill just ask for an idea of numbers for catering purposes closer to the date.
Will be looking forward to meeting everyone - interstate snobs also welcome to fly in! ;D
My Gmail message today announcing the bean bay now only mentions Sylvania and Coffee Parts.
Is Di Bartoli still a goer? That s the only feasible option for someone who, like me, is reliant on public transport from the Blue Mountains ... at least Bondi Junction is in striking distance from Central......
Ill order but leave the delivery option open till Di BArtoli is confirmed.
Anthony, this thread has been running for more than a week so that these sorts of issues could be sorted before now. Grrrrr.
Anyone else looking for DiBartoli pickup this month?
Anthony, I live about 2 minutes from Central and would be happy to try and sort out a way to get your beans to you so that Andy can move ahead with the shipping options as discussed. I know someone who works in North Ryde and lives in the mountains so we might even be able to sort out something there. Anyway, let me know if I can help.Originally Posted by Anthony link=1182162745/15#17 date=1182897068
Ahh, CS community cooperation... nice work hazchem!
And beans will also be available for pick up from Sefton during office hours!
Excellent work Dennis.
I hope that all the CSrs that head to the "Dennis - Sylvania" pickup will try and outdo the Brissy CSrs with a range of home made treats.
Pickup Point options in BeanBay will be:
SYDNEY - Dennis - Sylvania - Saturday 14th July 10:00-12:00
SYDNEY - CoffeeParts - Friday 13th
(and other options like DiBartoli, Sefton etc can be sorted in this thread or via PMs)
Id be up for a deBortelli pickup, but hazchem if your ok to take delivery then id be up for that. I work on king street newtown. let me know
Dennis, thanks for taking up the slack here, Ive opted to have delivery in your "shipment", and will collect at Sylvania (Im a Sutho boy, just down the road a ways). I want to hear how youre explaining the 100kg (? who knows) of beans for "people youve met on the internet" to the others who share your "home/office" type scenario :)
hey vfxmorley, im pretty sure we can sort something out. I have breakfast at Cordial on a pretty regular basis, so maybe we can meet up there one morning?Originally Posted by vfxmorley link=1182162745/15#23 date=1182942904
that would be ideal for me hazchem. I stated a coffeeparts pickup so hopefully thats all i need to do.... first bean bay!!! thanks
No worries - there are some benefits to being the manager - and my team are very tolerant of me! :)Originally Posted by poundy link=1182162745/15#24 date=1182946000

Could I ask for an EMAIL from those people who would like to have their beans held for collection at Sefton please. Email details are in my profile.
I can then take the remainder home to Sylvania for those who would like to collect from there. *If you are collecting from Sylvania, Id also appreciate an EMAIL from you to indicate whether you are able to join us for brunch on Saturday, 14th between 10 and 12ish. *Wed love to see you there whether youve ordered coffee or not. If you cant make the brunch on Saturday and would like to pick up from Sylvania at some other time, just let me know.
Thanks to Veneziano, and a recent purchase of some tulip cups, well also have a kilo of their roasted coffee ready in the Mazzer and oozing from the Giotto on offer!
Had the day off work today though got a call from the office....apparently a big heavy box has been delivered!
Just thought Id let people know that the orders that went via me have arrived.
Is there any interest in brunch at Sylvania next Saturday? Im kinda jealous that people in other States seem able to organise a get together and it just doesnt seem to happen here in Sydney. Have we become slaves to the rat race? Once again, everyone is welcome!
What time range are you thinking Dennis? I havent got beans this time around but would be keen for a catch up with some snobs. I would need to leave the Shire by about 11am though in order to play soccer on the North Shore. Seems my days are spent driving from North Shore to the Shire these days.
Anytime between 10 and 12ish would be great - maybe if you were to drop by for a bacon and egg roll and coffee you might perform even better on the field!Originally Posted by Coffeechaser link=1182162745/30#32 date=1183772203
Andy, just wanted to say thanks for the terrific range in this months beanbay and delivery - what a wonderful aroma when I opened the box - indian tiger mountain really is a great smelling green bean!
Just went out and bought myself a mortar and pestle...I think this chocolate is going to turn out to be pretty expensive if nothing else! ::) ;D
Just wondering if anyone might be able to help with a pickup from Coffee Parts.
At this stage I will be overseas from wed through sat morning and will be unable to pick them up on friday 13th. :-/
I live in the inner west (Concord).
Ali + :P
Friday 13th was the "published" pickup date!
I expect you will be in luck though, there is every chance they will be there Monday or Tuesday.
Hey Ali, I can help you out again, no problems. Shoot me an email at work if you still have my details or PM me through here and well sort it out.Originally Posted by Aero link=1182162745/30#35 date=1183790655
Pedro just let us know...
COFFEEPARTS have beans!
Those CSrs that chose Coffeeparts for their pickup, your beans are available during business hours.
Maybe a few of you will pick a date/time and get together for a coffee after too?
For pick-ups from Coffee Parts, if anyone cannot make it during business hours, just give me a call on 0414 524 166, as generally I am here past these hours...
Business Hours are:
Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Saturday 10am - 2pm
so, are we looking at a horde of 3 at Dennis place tomorrow? Ive got enough beans left to make a coffee in the morning to get me there, but I want my Yemen!
So Coffechaser, his wife, and little daughter, Scoota, Sue and I got together for a few hours this morning. It was great to meet everyone and share a tale or two over brunch and a coffee or two!
It just reinforced the fact that Coffee Snobs are very nice people!
Who knows, perhaps we might build from these small beginnings from one beanbay to the next?
ps. Ask Scoota about her coffee machine repair man! :o ;D
Question to Scootagal: Whats this we hear about your coffee machine repair man?
It was a great morning indeed. We were all so warmly welcomed by Dennis and Sue so it was a great way to spend a morning. And Dennis even let us play with his equipment. I can see why people buy Giottos it was very nice to use. As Dennis said the company of snobs was great.
So thanks Dennis and Sue for opening your beautiful home and I look forward to the next snob meet.
thanks to Dennis and Sue for welcoming us into their home on Saturday, I had a fun morning. Always great to hang out with other snobs!

He doesnt just repair coffeemachines! ;D ;D ;D
He also services biocycle septic systems... :o
Thanks again, Dennis and Sue for your hospitality! It was a great brunch and lovely to meet you both, as well as Hazchem who was also there! :)
