    Perth Pickup - July 2007

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
This is the thread for banter about the Perth pickup. *

I would like the beans to be in Perth by Saturday 14th July.
(although the following week might be a safer bet!)

    Terry,

Is it convenient for you to do what the northerners did last beanbay and pick up our beans at T5 in Joondalup?

Yeah, thats fine with me. Epic is still the most central place for most people. I will take any beans that I am asked to take up to T5 for a saturday pickup like last time. I think grendel wants to take more pictures and to have another place on the Synesso. ;D

    cheers

It seems as though pick-up from Epic is not possible on Saturday? Can anyone suggest a contact person there to confirm? Or alternately a contact at T5 to discuss picking up there instead. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I can confirm that a saturday pickup from EPic is NOT possible and a pickup from T5 on saturday IS possible - I imagine that TerryM from T5 will post here within an hour or two with contact details.

Re: Perth Pickup - July 2007

    Hi Guys,
I am a new member to this site (yesterday), but have been a guest for a couple of weeks now. This site is very cool indeed! Lots of info and by all appearances a knowledgable and fun crowd. Just ordered my newbie green bean starter kit, what a bargain, and thanks Andy for making it possible to direct tranfer money. I intend to begin roasting as soon as i receive my beans.
This is my first post so forgive me if this is not the appropriate place.
Just wondering when the next batch of green beans are up as i will probably have to use a few kilos to get the hang of roasting. I intend to start this hobby, (or addiction as ive noted) with a popper setup first before building my own drum roaster.
I have only been drinking coffee for about a year or two now but I have seen there are so many varieties and different flavours out there I think i will need to roast my own just so I have access to different ,and more importantly fresh coffees. Use a breville 800ES which is not bad, but I can see that this coffee caper allows for many shiny toys to keep me happy, (typical bloke, love toys, the shinier the better!).
Anyway thanks guys, look forward to future conversations.
    Cheers

Re: Perth Pickup - July 2007

    Gday James

Welcome to CS - I take it you are a Perth member?

Poppers are a good place to start. although you sound keen to move on to larger batches.

Yes. upgraditis is a common affliction here, far too many shiny toys.

Look forward to hearing more about your roasting experiences - if you have a look around CS youll see we have a forum for everything and most questions about coffee have been asked and answered at one time or another so the search button in the box to the right of the logo is very handy for finding the fastest response to questions - particularly those that crop up halfway through a roast! If it isnt already covered then it soon will be (particularly if you ask a really perplexing question).

    Again,

    Welcome.

    Thanks Grendel,
Yes i am Perth based, spent a bit more time looking around the site today and it looks as though there may be a few locals here, good to see.
Will keep posted as to roasting results, buying a popper later today and as i have a few days off before heading off to work i am already starting to source parts for the drum roaster.
    Cheers

Spoke to Corey this morning, there are still some beans from last months beanbuy (will PM owner) , so next week is not a problem.

I have collected all beans (only those requested) for Saturday T5 pickup.

    Cheers
