BeanBay Green Bean Release April / May 2018

BeanBay Green Bean Release April / May 2018

    Available in BeanBay now:

    PNG Wahgi AA

PNG Wahgi AA. Well washed, sorted and sized this is a really easy bean to roast and the results work well through a number of roast depths and brewing styles. Bright and acidic at CS8, Sweet at CS9, full of cocoa at CS10. I like it as an doppio espresso at CS9 where it's still has some lingering brightness but this coffee really shines best in milk based drinks. Stunning PNG coffee with a big CoffeeSnobs fan club.

    Nicaragua Matagalpa A

Nicaragua Matagalpa A really well processed, washed, large bean. Super easy to roast and turns into a cocoa bomb at in the medium to dark end of the roast scale but equally as interesting in the lighter roasts where the aromatics leap out of the cup. Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) graded and grown around 1200m altitude this is a bargain at $10/kg

    Panama Boquete Bajo Volcancito

Panama Boquete Bajo Volcancito is a high grown, strictly hard bean (SHB) from the Bajo Volcancito plantation. Clean, well graded and produces a great balance of sweetness and acidity with a smooth body and creamy mouthfeel at a CS9 roast depth. Fans of Central American beans should love this one.

    ...the required fine print...
(with the exception of the more expensive 1kg lots and the bulky 2kg Monsoons) All BeanBay green beans are packed in 2.5kg zippered cotton bags, perfect for storage for up to 3 years when kept in a cool, dark and dry position. We ship paid orders out from the Snobbery Monday to Thursday and BeanBay will show the available shipping options and actual freight costs to your area. Larger orders are typically cheaper to freight per kilogram so we suggest ordering all your requirements at once. We also strongly recommend that you ship to an attended address (eg: work or grandma's house) to avoid delivery delays. Monday to Thursday we will ship everything same day that we receive payment for but please remember bank lag means it will take at least a day for your payment to get to us even though your bank took it from you instantly. If you want it faster, don't procrastinate and please order earlier for less stress.

    Enjoy!

Hey Mb21 - I ordered 5kg of the Matagalpa on the weekend. Do you want to order the Volcancito and do a swap for some?

Send me a PM, I'm in Sydney.

    Hi all

I was waiting for some PNG Wahgi to appear ;-) Grabbed 5 kg as my wife and I like it so much.
Unfortunately I have run out of the Monsooned Malabar that I often add to it.

to be fair, I rushed the order as I was supposed to be in a skype meeting at the time .. so, awesome !

I did not recognise the name and only just typed it in from my old label, I thought it was Cafe something..

We have crazier expensive from time to time too. The Hawaii are good, maybe over priced but western wages for the farmer/mill/transport/etc (not 3rd world wages) does most of that. Worth trying at least once so you know what Hawaiian coffee is like, prob not much need to go back for seconds but some people swear by them.

What determines which beans get added to the Roasted Beans section? - for those that don't roast their own. I notice that there are quite a few different green beans that are not available as roasted ones. (apologies if it has been asked before).

    ME!

...well me and the noise from customers actually.

There is a finite amount of different roasts that I can do in a day before the courier gets here, so to add one I need to take one out. As soon as I remove something my inbox explodes with "where did xx go", "I want to order xx" etc etc. I would like to swap-out coffees more often in the Roasted BeanBay section but the grief I get (for weeks after) makes it hard to motivate to do.

Of course, if you want to order 12.5kg of anything (a full roast) I can do that (contact me offline) but for an odd kilo I would have to drink the rest!

The other gotcha is that many of the coffees we land in the green bean section are very limited and once gone, they are gone till next season.

What beans would you like to see brown?

Appreciate the candid response :-) Seems like a given in retail, you can never win!!

I was reading about the PNG one which piqued my interest and then went looking. But I am only a 500gm at a time buyer so just a flea on the elephants bum.

All good, I'll grab some more India Elephant and the Peruvian one which I've been really enjoying.
