BeanBay Green Bean Release December 2018 / Jan 2019

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
BeanBay Green Bean Release December 2018 / Jan 2019
    available in BeanBay now:

    Mexico el Triunfo Arabigo

Mexico el Triunfo is an old growth heirloom varietal called Arabigo and is well washed and processed bean but not size graded. Closely related to Typica the Arabigo is a bold coffee in the cup with a touch of acidity, great body and a dose of spicy savoury flavours on the finish. Roast slowly to a CS10 to get a stunning spiced cocoa espresso or faster roasts for a bright, crisp finish similar to the very top Kenyans.

Mexico el Triunfo Arabigo is the bean that Zed won the 2012-2013 home roasting section of the Golden Bean competition with, it was also the "secret" control bean of the 2016 Golden Bean Home Roasting Competition and we have just landed the new crop and it works a treat. Enjoy!

    Guatemala Jacaltenango SHB

A long-time CS'r favourite, Guatemala Jacaltenango SHB (strictly hard bean).
Jacaltenango is in the northern end of Guatemala, near the Mexican border and even as a green bean this is full of fruit and sweet aromas. The same ripe coffee fruit sweetness appears in the espresso shot along with some green apple acidity that lifts the aromas. Stunning as a long black but also works well in all espresso based drinks.

    Ethiopia Sidamo Ardi Naturals

Ethiopia Sidamo Ardi is a natural processed coffee from the south western highlands and was sun dried on raised beds. This coffee is a fruit-bomb, lush red berries and huge floral aromatics off the grinder.

This bean has the biggest impact in a light to medium roast depth. Works well in milk, as a long black, as a short black and as a filter coffee. Hugely interesting all rounder with a big fruity juicy punch.

OVERALL WINNER of GOLDEN BEAN 2018/2019
Silver Single Origin, Silver Filter, Bronze Espresso, Silver Milk based.

    Costa Rica Miel SHB

Costa Rica Miel SHB is another coffee from the premium region in Costa Rica, Tarrazu and Honey processed by the good folks at Coop Dota.

This high grown, hard bean Costa Rican was honey processed leaving the fruit in contact with the seed much longer. During processing this looks like a sticky, gooey mess hence the term miel. The result in the cup is typically sweeter and fruitier and that's certainly the case here. You can smell the sweetness even before roasting and the body in the cup is greatly improved over the traditional processing. Stunning coffee and great value, a must try.

OVERALL WINNER of GOLDEN BEAN 2018/2019
Silver Filter, Bronze Milk Based, Silver Espresso

    ...the required fine print...
With the exception of the more expensive 1kg lots and the bulky 2kg Monsoon coffees, all BeanBay green beans are packed in 2.5kg zippered cotton bags, perfect for storage for up to 3 years when kept in a cool, dark and dry position.

We ship all paid orders out from the Snobbery Monday to Thursday and BeanBay will show the available shipping options and actual freight costs to your area. Larger orders are typically cheaper to freight per kilogram so we suggest ordering all your requirements at once and we also strongly recommend that you ship to an attended address (eg: work or grandma's house) to avoid delivery delays.

Monday to Thursday we will ship everything same day that we receive payment for but please remember bank lag means it will take at least a day for your payment to get to us even though your bank took it from you instantly. If you want it faster, don't procrastinate, please just order earlier, less stress and never have a reason to ask us "are we there yet?".

    Enjoy!

...and just like that the trio became a quartet when the Mexican landed today!
    (I jumped too early)

We have other stuff on the water too... but no idea of clearance and landing dates though but as always, when available they will appear in BeanBay.

OMG have you tried the Ethiopia Sidamo Ardi Naturals?
Just wonderful. For me, any high quality bean doesn't get spoilt with milk, so just getting the enjoyment from the berries and light tannin was good.
But here's the kicker,,,,I thought I'd give it a go with milk for a change as the ad says it works well with milk. Boy oh boy, yes. It's like Terry's Chocolate Orange. Just wonderful on the palate and lingering chocolate orange for a long time leaves me wanting another I had a laugh.
    Love it.
Thanks Andy also for looking after the account again. I'm all good now.
