Suggestion for coffee snobs re selling a thermometer

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Maybe I am blind but for the life of me I cannot see anywhere in the bean bay area where I can buy a basic milk thermometer.
I have tried all my local shops to no avail and would have thought it was a pretty basic bit of equipment that could be available via this site so I can order one with my next bean order.

Also check out the stick on Thermometers now available. E61 has them as to other sponsors. My milk thermometers have made their way to the bottom drawer since I fitted them.http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1275730916

Re: Suggestion for coffee snobs re selling a thermometer

I highly recommend the Attento Thermo-label - much easier to use than the usual milk thermometer.

I bought mine from TalkCoffee . I know sponsors E61, Di Bartoli and Coffee Parts also sells them, and perhaps others.

Another vote for the Attento stick on thermometer.
Using one on each of my high rotation jugs for a few months now and loving them.

I got mine from sponsor E61 Espresso Machinery whom I believe have a special on these at present.

I realised I could probably buy them online somewhere. The point was more that they should be available along with all the other parfernalia here.

I would like to just be able to order through this site.

Im so sorry for daring to make a suggestion.

Mazden I dont know how often youve logged in since you joined a year ago but Id have hoped by now, if youd participated by at least reading a little over that time, that youd realise what this site is primarily about.

The few items that Andy does supply other than beans are there because of his goodwill not because this is a site to retail all things coffee.

There is a long list of Site Sponsors on the left; Im sure a few of them will have thermometers for sale.

You didnt say where local is.
Someone may be able to give a suggestion for an offline purchase as well if you tell us your location.

Have to admit I was kinda stunned by the question in your original post (where can I buy a milk thermometer?) just did a search on evilbay, came up with 18 hits ranging in price from $6.90 to $18, the search took me all of 30 seconds.
Sometimes you just have to try to do simple things for yourself ::)

It was actually a demand, not a suggestion.

Gotta love it....Five suggestions/offers of assistance- all rejected because sooky lala didnt get his way, and not so much as a thank you to any of those who offered assistance.

Lucky I didnt say what I really thought... :-?

May your search for a thermometer be endless and fruitless and may all of your milk curdle when within 1m of an espresso machine.

Either its a full moon or a Gen Y invasion....As for the washing machine, its all yours Maz. Just use the hot wash spin cycle and you will never have to texture or check your milk again mate...Sheesh :D

Re: Suggestion for coffee snobs re selling a thermometer

    ***Rewind back to 07. Oct 2010 at 10:20 ***

Mazdan: Id like to suggest that we be able to buy thermometers and other home barista paraphernalia from BeanBay

On behalf of everyone else: "Andy supplies coffee, tea, chocolate and roasting equipment. There are plenty of sponsors who will supply the other paraphernalia who would love your support."

Mazdan: "Oh, OK, thanks for the info. Ill try them instead. What a great site CS is!"

There, all fixed! Now, back to the discussions *[smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Re: Suggestion for coffee snobs re selling a thermometer

The point is that a person comes in and simply offers a suggestion and gets the "how dare you make suggestions.

    Well thats fine by me.

    This site is a business.

    I am a customer.

And the mods here are employees, even if they are volunteers, and as such should be treating people and there ideas with respect.

Your attitude would see you given a swift boot if you worked for me.

Customer service is absolutely everything in this world.

Sure, I may be but a small purchaser of coffee but how many people have I and could I influence to buy coffee here?

After this experience and the treatment of the mods.........no more. There are hundreds of places I can go to buy coffee and be treated as a human being. Whats more, the word of mouth from me will no longer be singing praises but the complete opposite.

Will that make much difference? probably not, but I will guarantee that I am not the only one who has been watching this and realised that this is not the place for me.

I suggest that instead of crawling up your beloved Andies ass thinking you are impressing him that you would be far better off doing the right thing by his business and treat people and there ideas with respect.

Re: Suggestion for coffee snobs re selling a thermometer

    Chill out Mazdan

This site is mainly a forum, not a commercial site. People come here to participate in coffee discussions and get advice; you can buy stuff if you want.

The moderators*here are moderators, not employees, and have no commercial interest in their role. The only time I have seen them get steamed is when others diss them or other forum members.

Perhaps your initial intentions were misinterpreted - Ill give you the benefit of the doubt; perhaps you didnt like the reaction you received but you are only making it worse with this rant.

You can buy stuff on CS but it is a forum for coffee enthusiasts, not a shop, and it is one of the more friendly fora I am a member of.
