    Tassie milk problems?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Has anyone in any Tas cafes had ongoing milk foaming problems? I know that autumn is traditionally known as the low protein time of year, but I have had so many batches of watery milk constantly for the last 12-18 months. Both well known brands seem to be equally the same, with low fat milk being the worst. Ive done the trick of adding milk powder, and combining full cream with the skinny, with little success. Then, depending on the date batch, it will suddenly be normal again. It can be so frustrating trying to do your best when youre secretly hoping everone orders a flat white cos thats all theyll be getting anyway! (better yet, order a long black!) Can it be possible that the milk companies are watering down the milk?? I know they would never admit it if they are, but thats what the pale puddle water stuff they label milk looks like. I am planning to email both companies to ask what the problem is >:(

I live in Burnie, and I find that Betta full cream milk is usually good. Occasionally get some that doesnt work as well as normal but not consistently over the time frame you mentioned. I also find Lite milk doesnt ever seem to produce same quality of microfoam as is possible with the full cream. I have no idea about the supermarket brands, will not buy that.
I have recently tried some UHT full cream milk (nothing else in the house), and it was surprisingly good for a latte style drink. Have you tried adding some UHT to your bad batches of full cream?

Thanks, that might be worth a try when the milks dodgy. So far, the last few day have been ok, but I might get one just to give it a go.
