    Great coffee in Bali

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

if you are ever in Bali and need a great coffee, check out this place in the beach walk shopping centre near Legian called "Dirt Java". Great local roasted coffee brewed by a beautiful Kees Van Der Western mirage Duette.

Checked this place out last November. Espresso was cold and sour. I had a nice chat with the barista and he explained that it has been that way since the machine broke and subsequently repaired. It is the only coffee shop I know where the baristas are not allowed to adjust the grinder and the brew temp of the KVDW Mirage.

The best coffee I've ever had in Bali was a sachet of ABC 3in1 mixed with hot water and chocolate milk.

If you're in Ubud, FREAK has good cold filtered coffee, but I'm not that big a fan of their espresso. The owner is passionate about the plantation to cup experience and everything is very local. Seniman is much better. Good range of brews and filters as well as coffee.

The coffee situation in Bali has improved so much in the last year or 2 ....my favourite on my recent trip was Ruko in Berawa which is part of Canggu. Revolver still great ...also a lovely roaster cafe in Jl Drupadi , Seminyak called The Koop .....also heard good things about Sisterfields and Ex Pat next door...in Seminyak

EXPAT. Coffee roasters, Seminyak Square, directly next door to Sisterfields. Tiny cafe, they weigh dose and extraction. Been there 6 times in 3 days this trip and I prefer their coffee to Revolver's. Impressive looking hardware, looks like a custom LM to me? Apparently expensive? - $5 for a large FW... but not in my opinion.

Looks like a LM Linea PB with some extra holes. They certainly have all the gear. LM Linea, EK43, Pullman Chisel, Brewista pour over kettles...

I met the owner of Ex Pat on my last visit ....they are connected to Sisterfields so the coffee should be good at both ....I believe they have a new outpost a bit further north in Jl Petinget .

Currently staying in South Sanur and had a great coffee at Kedai Kopi Kultur on Jalan Danau Poso. It is located in a place called Rumah Creative Hub, which also has a bar, a small shop selling handmade jewellery, clothes etc and a coworking space all in a big warehouse.

Good range of different Indonesian coffee brewed however you like. I had a Kintamani through the v60. I'm not one for taking notes so let's just say it was delicious. Went back today and had a Sumatran Bengkulu which again was great. My wife had a flat white that was nicely made but weak, so ask for a double I guess.

They are really cool people running the place, and the people in the cafe are all total coffee nerds, I'll be going back later for another. As a side note, the kids had deadly Oreo milkshakes which kept them quiet
