    NZ Green Beans

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi Fellow NZ Snobs,

After many years of loyalty to BeanBay I moved across the ditch and the greens I smuggled into the country are running low. Just wondering what are some good options in NZ similar to BeanBay? - although I doubt anyone can match the service.

    Cheers,

    WEBN

The most similar option to CS BeanBay is the NZ agent for Behmor - Green Bean House. The service is good and they have a good range of different coffees available to buy in different size packs starting at 400g. They’re a touch on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for to an extent.
I buy pretty much all my green coffee from John Burton Ltd. They’re the biggest independent green coffee importer in NZ and pretty much any other place selling green coffee online has just bought it from JBL, repacked it, added 20% and on sold it (eg. Excelso, Coffee Workshop, Global Coffee).
They have a website but don’t have online shopping so to buy from them you need to set up an account. Anyone can do this and it is quite easy. Once you’re set up just request their offering list each month and then place an order by phone or email. Most coffees are available in any size starting from 1 kg except for some of the high grade micro lots. Prices are generally better as you are buying direct from the importer and shipping costs are reasonable.
There are other options, but those are the best two to start with.

Over the years we have sent a lot of coffee into NZ but it was always a headache and a big time sponge trying to calculate freight costs etc.

I've just haggled a really good bulk freight rate into NZ and can express ship 10kg of beans (11kg shipping weight with packaging) for $6.50/kg (instead of the $9.75/kg it should be).

Process has a few extra steps as BeanBay will only calculate AU deliveries.

    For NZ:

1: Send us a note via [Contact Us] with your username, shipping address and which 10kg of beans you want.
2: We'll manually add the international freight (has no GST) and you can fix up the invoice in BeanBay.
3: When paid we'll ship it and you will receive the tracking.

To keep it simple, we can only do this on a 10kg carton but that could be 10 x 1kg or 4 x 2.5kg or whatever combination equals 10kg.

And this is why no one could ever match your service!
Cheers Andy, I'll have to think about what to get now!

If it works for any other kiwis i would be keen on 2.5 kg. Especially if it was for a bean we could not access here.

Just heard back from my account manager and we can send a 20kg carton for $5/kg (AU$100) so if there are a few people close enough to share that might work better.

Looks like my thoughts of moving to NZ might have been revived.

Ok guys. Only 3 more takers at 2.5 kg and we have ourselves a 10kg delivery.
