    Central West/South West Slopes

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I am heading to Young for the weekend and noticed a distinct lack of info about this area for CS.

Anyone care to fill in the gaps, I am going to do a bit of a crawl while I am there so I will post some comments when I get back.

Well no takers I see, back from the weekend and nothing really positive to report, which considering there is a fairly large roaster (art of espresso) just out the road who supplies half the town I would have expected better.

The one place that I found was the country providore located in the main st, using forsyths and made a passable piccolo, food looked pretty good too.

I was just waiting for you to get back... ;D

As I suspected that your experience would pretty much sum up what there was out there...or not...

You should have come to the North West Slopes instead... ;D ;)

I had a coffee at "Mezzanine" in Forbes today.

I was very impressed, the food was very good as well, busy place.

Just a recommendation of a couple of places in Orange, Hardback Cafe on the main street and Factory Espresso (Bills Beans) near the railway station.

I second this. Factory Espresso in Orange, NSW has decent coffee and they have a roastery at the back that is viewable through a glass wall from the cafe dining area at the side. I was even invited to a quick tour of the roastery. I was very surprised to find decent coffee here given the population is only 40,000...and do try their toasted Egg and Bacon roll very impressed indeed. Best egg and bacon roll I've ever had.

Mezzanine unfortunately is closed. Espresso at Pantry Cafe 6-8 Templar St, Forbes is good. The Heritage Cafe served a fair espresso, however the place was very busy and under-staffed (Anzac Day and the whole town seemed to be out, and Pantry closed). Neither place was inexpensive. Did not try any other cafes.
