    Homebush

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Heres one Ive been meaning to do and my apologies to the guys for not getting onto it sooner...

Pablo & Rustys Homebush: Cnr Australia Avenue and Dawn Fraser Avenue. It is at the northern end of the railway station.

Opening hours...Ill have to check those but Im pretty sure that they are open early and shut at 3pm. Cant tell you about the weekend opening hours but someone else here might be able to fill us in... ;)

If you find yourself in Homebush, get down to Pablos for a coffee. Or even go one further and have some banana bread like I did! I stopped in twice the day I was in Homebush and was impressed with how busy this place was. As busy as they were, they still managed to serve up a great coffee. Yes, the guys knew who I was but Im sure that that doesnt mean their standards drop after I left! I was only slightly embarrassed to hear that they did 10 kilos in a few hours one day. (Im usually only doing 10 kilos in a week!)

It was a terrific spot in the sun and really, if you want a great day out, head on over to Homebush and Olympic Park. As much as Ive been there a few times over the years, I surprised myself by driving down the Olympic Parade for my first time and was wowed by the architecture there. Also, I thought next time I would definitely take the new suspended walk over the brick pits. Bicentennial Park was also a beaut spot as well. I would have also liked to have seen the art at the Armoury but sadly it wasnt open that day.

I know Homebush isnt easy to get to transport wise but parking never seems to be a problem (when there isnt an event on Im talking about) and there is plenty of wide open spaces to wander about. And when youre done with wandering around, you can wander up to Pablo and Rustys for some recharging and refreshment!

Also at Homebush I would like to recommend:

    Quad Cafe
Location: Quad 1, 8 Parkview Drive *(just down the road from the station).

I train with the Lidcombe Auburn Cycle Club on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays mornings (6 to 7 am) around Olympic Park. *Some of us used to have *coffee at Pablo and Rustys but now a lot of us have it at the Quad Cafe - consensus is that the coffee is a bit better (for my taste the normal Pablo and Rusty blend is a bit too dark). * George, the owner of Quad, seems to be very concerned about maintaining a good standard of coffee.

Methinks I should take myself to Homebush to try out BOTH cafes to make up my mind.

This probly isnt the BEST cup in sydney, but its my favourite.
They also have stores in Epping, Gordon and Bowral which I frequent (bowral much less frequently I have to admit :P)
the other stores are great, great coffee, good food and very friendly service, but theres just something about homebush that puts it that little bit farther ahead.
Salvatory is a champion behind the machine and seems to effortlessly pump through kilo after kilo, day after day. *And Chris runs that place like a dream. *Great spot for a coffee :)

Pitty you cant actually tell, but my dp was taken in the back of Pabs @ epping *;D ;D

oh, and scoota gal, if you liked the Bannana bread, you MUST try the eggs benny. *Its incredible. *:D

Just so she doesnt get left out, Senada is also behind the machine with Salvatore. I may or may-not have trained them a while back :-X Theyre a great crew there.

FYI the site at Bowral doesnt exist anymore.

A quick update to this thread, 3 years later. Pablo & Rustys is still there, 3 group Synesso and 3 Robur e grinders with staff who seem to care about what they're doing.

I'm not a regular visitor to Homebush so I don't know if there's a better cafe elsewhere, but this place is pretty good and a million times better than the rubbish my hotel is serving.
