    Coffee and food in Orange/Dubbo

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Heading out west for a few days. Can anyone recommend good places for coffee in Orange and Dubbo? Restaurant and cellar door recommendations would also be appreciated - not too keen on macca's for dinner.
    Cheers, Dave

    Hi Dave,

In Dubbo, give Sprout Cafe a go. They're using Sacred Grounds coffee. Not sure if they open for dinner. I had lunch there recently when I was heading through. You'll find them at 1/43 Macquarie Street.

For dinner, Sticks and Stones Woodfired Pizza restaurant is pretty good. Or alternatively, there is a Tapas bar underneath Sticks and Stones. Haven't been to that one for a while but it was a good spot for a group of people last time I was there. It is down the other end of Macquarie street to Sprout Cafe.

When I use to work in Orange the best coffees were at Bills Beans/Cafe Espresso (same owner - own roast) and Byng St Cafe (allpress coffee). Towards the end of my time there was a place called dotted eight that popped up which a lot of people liked (campos coffee).

Agree with Choman's recommendation on Orange. Bills coffee I think their roastery and dine in is called the factory or something like that. You can view them roasting through the wall to wall glass inside. Their breakfast baguettes are fantastic too. Dotted eight I believe owned by brothers, the one brother barista was very serious about his job and spoke of barista comps. Yes campos is used, saw him dial in the grinder when opening a fresh bag serving only after he had it right. Food wise believe it or not the motor inn serves very high quality dining. Orange is surprisingly easy to find good coffee and food for a small township.

Thanks for the recommendations scoota gal, Choman and Saoye. Had breakfast at Bill's beans Factory Espresso. Lovely sweet aromatic double shot flat white, very well made. The breakfast burrito was probably one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time.
