The spending package, over the next four years, includes $28.8 billion for infrastructure, schools and housing, as well as $12.7 billion cash payments. The payments include one-off bonus payments of $950 each for low- and middle-income households and individuals through five bonuses, to be paid in March, 2009
But as with some others, were not eligible, so no stimulus driven upgrades for us.
*EDIT* Hmm, perhaps we are eligible for some of it. The last one was linked to the Family Tax Benefit, but this one seems to be based on annual income.
Anyhow, I thought a stimulus package was a bag of beans that had robusta in them!
:D :D :D Ive just killed my month old popper, now I dont have to worry about how long a new one will last, I can buy a *Gene, or if Im really lucky a hottop ;D
What bonus, Single self employed by my own shop with no meaningful debts or loans so what interest rate cut and what bonus !!! All I get is greater admin and costs just to keep the doors open to keep bean counters in a job >:(
bonus only kicks in if ur taxable income was less than 100K for 07/08, and even then, the max of $950 is if u earnt less than $80KOriginally Posted by 0205010E060C19090E07600 link=1233633118/4#4 date=1233646376
No upgrades here but i am sure those who are eligible will put it toward some bling.
Great! >:(Originally Posted by 545F45570801300 link=1233633118/5#5 date=1233649842
So here I am out of work, Centrelink still wont pay me anything for at least another month AND I dont get anything from Kevin because last year I had a job?
<insert expletive here>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do we have a dancing in the streets emoticon? Got my Home Barista course booked already.
Ill be trawling the old threads looking for a $500-$600 machine, I might hang off grabbing the $150 grinder, maybe look to spend double that. BeanBay will be sure to get a visit.
Just got to run my plans by the treasurer....the real one, not Swannie. Shell probably want to waste it on something like a holiday, or food or clothes or something like that.
My sympathies to those who always seem to fall through the mesh. Im fortunate enough that Ill probably do ok out of it.
bah. whats this $100K cutoff? Oh well, no cash payments but perhaps Ill get a tax cut, which would be nice, I dont really like working my arse off for nearly half of my commissions to go in tax.
Just upgraded to an HX recently but wasnt game to mention to my wife that I would love a Mazzer Super Jolly, now thanks to Kindly Kev this could become a reality sooner than later. Who said there wasnt a Santa Claus??? :) ;) :D
I feel for those who dont qualify, weve been in the "just miss out" boat for most of our married life, and now because of that have the pleasure of fully paying for a living away from home Uni student. Not to mention the 16 year old, 61" food demolition unit.
Anyone willing to adopt one of these money pits to qualify you for a bonus, please PM me :D
This bonus is very much that, a bonus we can spend (almost) without guilt on something that would otherwise not be considered.
Once again, commiserations to those who miss out. :(
woot. should get this bonus, after salary sacrificing and the voluntary tax I pay, my taxable income should be below 80k... now what to buy? :)
Voluntary tax? Since when has tax been voluntary?Originally Posted by 173C30382E105D0 link=1233633118/12#12 date=1233704166
I dont want to dash your hopes but I thought it will be based on gross income, not net income.
okay so the voluntary tax I pay is after gross I spose. I pay it to lower my tax bracket, or something like that...
I have missed out on any government payments all my life
Self employed for over 30 years
I will have to check with the accountant about this but I am not hopeful
Anyway if I do get this payment, I will purchase solar panels to reduce my electricity consumption
Might be moot anyway. The Opposition have said they will try to block the stimulus package in both Houses and opt for tax cuts instead.Originally Posted by 654E424A5C622F0 link=1233633118/14#14 date=1233704837
Gosh surprise an oposition opposing *::)
Yes lets follow the US into trillion $ debt because of tax cuts for the wealthy and the middle class. What right minded human sees a permenant cut to Goverment revenue base as sensible or logical? At least with a one off is it is just that and it may or may not get another round as required.
Infrastructure is a great option and providing all you wage slaves and retiries spend your $$ on Aussie made or Grown rather than on imported Coffee gear *;D it will be better again for all.
Bah Humbug >:(
When Im not working, my wife qualifies for a pension.
She missed out on the last handout to pensioners.
She misses out this time because the pensioners got the last one. ::)
If those mongrels stop me (sorry, us) getting my new coffee fitout, there WILL be hell to pay. :oOriginally Posted by 656F7A6D6D627670030 link=1233633118/16#16 date=1233706262
Im not planning on spending it, until I actually see it in my bank account!
Got the last one because we get carers payment, should get this one because we earn the right amount of money and it is not based on family income but your own single income.
I cant believe so many people earning over $80,000 each here, i must ask for a bit more money i think

The independants and greens can push it through and probably will with a few changes.
Nick Xenophon is concerned that the very poor and the unemployed are being ignored as they missed the last one so he is pushing for an ammendment for the unemployed to get a payment. Not sure about the Greens, but I am guessing they are doing the same.

Im buying a new mountain bike with my stimulous .. I already spend to much money at cafes everyday .. no need to spend more on coffee.
well, it didnt happen with my payment from the December quarter to I bought a new grinder. Not quite spending the stimulus money I know, but I figure ANY spending right now has to help.Originally Posted by 666F746D666B630E0 link=1233633118/9#9 date=1233684980
