Should we be feeding the trolls?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Whats with removing non-sponsor links? Surely if it is a good enough deal people will want to know about it (sponsor or not - its called a free market). Filtering of information like that is something a bit too Orwellian for my liking.

Because this is a sponsored website. Do you know of any shops that would promote their competitors stock?

You are free to buy from whomever you wish. CS sponsors would prefer you to buy from them.

Harsh assessment there Frank. 1984 was about the concealment of truth. Sponsors of CS are generally happy to refer you to other dealers - even non-sponsors - if the service is not available from a sponsor.

    Hello Frank,

Perhaps you havent managed to read and absorb the CS site sales and posting policy yet *:-? Please do so at some stage.. http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1115338528

We now have a CS sponsor who has gone to the trouble and expense of importing them. Given that it seems that CS is of use to you, and that the site is funded by sponsors, we think its great when members can support the people who bring you this forum.

There are very few rules here, but those few rules help keep this forum healthy and viable. Unlike Orwellian society, participation is not compulsory. You do have free choice to participate...or not...as you prefer *;)

    Enjoy your journey...

    Hi Frank.....

    Easy answer!

This site costs heaps of money to run (and Andy isnt going to pay for it out of his own pocket)..... so the site sponsors foot the bill for much of the expense.

In return, those who pay the costs for the site dont expect to be "knee capped" by having details of other non site sponsor sites published - this is a rule you agreed to when you signed up. If you didnt want to accept that condition - you dont join - simple as that!

Anyone is free to start their own site (at their expense!) and do anything there they want to......

But just like wandering around David Jones with a big sign advertising "Harvey Norman is cheaper for xxxxx"...... you / your ad would be removed - VERY QUICKLY!!!!

    And rightly so ;)

Re: Should we be feeding the trolls?

A while ago i posted a positive for veneziano caffe (who are site sponsors) for the fantastic deal they did for me on a set of marzocco baskets matched to an espro convex tamper and my post disappeared quicker than a lick of butter in a boarding house fridge, Whats with that? Was that an inappropriate post? I have my thoughts but Ill keep them to myself for now....... :-X

Re: Should we be feeding the trolls?

wow, a thread on a kyocera hand grinder is probably not the place for a site discussion? Any chance of keeping this thread open while moving the unrelated discussion to a different thread? I dont want to lose this thread about the hand grinder Ive just ordered...

The above was not my original post, which had some valid discussion points on the idea that sponsors only should be allowed to be linked in messages. Someone (big brother) edited it.

One of the posts was right though, if you dont like it dont come back. I certainly wont be!

    Your choice Frank,

You are most welcome back if/when you would like to contribute again...

Now, given that this topic has been addressed previously on many occasions, lets move on to positive things and back to discussions on coffee :-?....
