I have an old sunbeam machine kicking around - I might give that a go.

Why the Krups basket and not the sunbeam?

    Hi BJ,

the sunbeam basket is pressurised IIRC (eg. double-basket), so produces what looks like crema but doesnt act like crema. the single-walled krups baskets let you have the real goodness in the cup.

Here is a fun thing to do (personal experience), use the pressurized basket with the naked handle.

I have just finished cleaning up the mess from running it through the pressurised basket :)

I fortunately found an old De Longhi basket the fits - the crema is unbelievable!

I need to play around with the amount of coffee in basket though.

    Big John.
    DeLonghi, interesting.
Does it leave much coffee grind in the bottom of the cup??
My modded Sunbeam basket leaves a pinch. But its worth it!!

Very minimal grind left in bottom - it did not effect quality. I have a naked group handle on my Boema and it is very easy to tell if the grind is correct. The old Sunbeam group handle had a plastic inner disperser that left a plasticky taste not to mention the crud under it.

I have now donated the machine to a friend in need.
