    Howdy

Cant post in the state section as i dont have 50 posts.

Am staying a couple of nights in August in the Hilton South Wharf and would like some recommendations of decent coffee within walking distance from there.

Im from Perth and am use to to a daily diet of Velvet and/or Epic ristrettos.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers... Spanks

Grab a cab to St Ali in Yarra Place, South Melbourne, great breakfast and brilliant ristretto!!

I can vouch for the breakfast but in my honest opinion the coffee was nowhere near as good as BBB on Little Bourke.

Maybe I went at a busy time, but none of the coffees that my group ordered was brilliant. Sad cause its so close to me and the atmosphere is lovely on the weekend.

    for adding my $0.02.

BBB a more pure coffee experience (minimal food) with a wide range of exotic coffees from around the world. If you are in town make sure you get to a Saturday morning cupping session really worth it. The staff are really in to their coffee. If you want a bag of somthing special to take home then well worth a walk.

St Ali. Great food and coffee. I prefered their house blend to BBBs. By August they may also have a Syphon Bar up and going around the corner as well. Great range of coffees but a little less exotic. Possibility of watching the Roaster in action if your lucky.

Plenty of other great choices in Melbourne but these two are the nearest and best.

Ok an update.. I have a day and evening to myself while in Melbourne in August so Id like to travel to see the best coffee shops that Melbourne has to offer.

I will do St Ali and BBB (as they re close to where Im staying) but where else is there that Melbournians recommend. I can catch cabs or trams or whatever but I would like to see and taste the coffee shops of the "alleged" Mecca of coffee in Australia.

    Cheers..

Whilst you cant post in the Good Coffee Where thread, I am pretty certain you can read it. ;)

Have a look through the Victorian section of that forum and Im sure you will find some good recommendations for places to visit in Melbourne...
