You need to use the classic line that the little women use when you notice another pair of shoes or an outfit.
"NEW?? of course not, i have had that for ages, you just dont look hard enough"
Then of course start running... ;D

Re: The Eagle has landed !!

Mrs AM bought a dress for Daughter.. Some brand that starts with a V ?? Every one knows him / it / her and recon it was a great buy..

Still not sure what they paid, but the price on teh tag was about 2.7k Euro ??? WTF

Then they pulled another dress or two and leather jacket out... All top brands... No price tags ??? Two were straight of some catwalk show in Milan ????

I guess when the people your staying with have multi story apartments on the beach in Sicily and want to do things for you... You smile...

The also have heaps of other stuff..... BUT they tell me they got it cheep via connections....

The real plus was that the first thing they wanted when they got home was a coffee...

Now, that was the first positive stage as I feel I/we can enter into a let talk stage...

Yes Dear... Be right up NOW....

Ah, well a new Versace outfit trumps a new Diadema kit in the extravagance stakes.

Hooray, AM has been delivered from an uncertain fate!

AM, AM, are you there? *In one piece still?

Whos to say it was Versace - being in Italy, could well have been a Valentino - even more pricey, I think!

Yes, only one person can wear a dress, leather jacket, etc but you can roast coffee, make brilliant beverages and build her a new hanger to put the new clothes on for probably the same price! *Yeah, I know, probably wont cut it, but worth a try.

Tip for all you male players when breaking it to the other half about expenditure in these circumstances, let the partner express buyers remorse :( , make them feel a little bit guilty *:-[ and then tell them about your expenditure *:o . *Takes the bite out of it! *Works for my husband every time... *;)

I knew someone would mention this ::) ;D.
Well given the "Every one knows him / it / her" qualification, I would put my money on Versace. In terms of offsetting AMs "extravagance", it doesnt matter.

Im fortunate to have a wife whos much less materialistic than I and her occasional need is satisfied by new shoes; not expensive Italian ones either. I respect her enough not to make a major purchase without asking beforehand.

    Dont mention the war!

It was Versace and the dress is for her Formal... She made her previous one and is putting in half the $$ Now at 16 her pay rate is minor and she only works 3 - 4 hr on a Sunday... Every other waking Hr is Ballet or School.. Thus she was considerate of our input and what she could contribute..

All up, I think they got a grat deal.. I think it cost about 300Euro about $600 Aus and she can make use of it at Ballet performance / openings as well.. Considering what some pay... Very cheep and will go with current shoes... Prada Bag ???? Given as a gift as well as some other ONE off dresses etc from the same show...

If she was to have bought from a shop... Then mega $$$ and there would have been other outfit of the same around... This way she gets a ONE off... Maybe I can trade on evil bay when she grows out of it and I can fund my next upgrade ;)

As to teh coffee machine.. I is still in the out house..

BUT I have a secrete weapon...

I have not told / advised that I have sold the other coffee stuff and my wood lathe.. Thus after incomming and outgoings... I am not as Bad a Boy as it might first appear.. 8-) 8-) 8-)

The fact that outher stuff has also come in but not identified.. Well.... Enough said ;) That will be another exercise in miss direction...

This is great stuff AM .

I have a Mokita Combi hiding in the shed and an Isomac Granmacinino hiding in the office....bought both without thinking about how they would be explained to the boss.

I have much to learn from you master.

AM 10 points for bravery ;D

However why did you tell her. You should have just installed it and told her you gave the old machine a work over/facelift. She may have accepted this ::)

I can justify anything as long as the better half believes that it is for the business. ;D :D

Well, some things I can get away with... But if she was to ever say Oh, thats nice...

I would start to panic... That is the "Your mine and your going to PAY for that" lead in... After that comes teh left hook....

To date she has always connected... And after 20 years I know its coming... BUT I NEVER SEE IT :-[

Anyone remember the video game street fighter? The women were *always* super quick, landing several blows before the male opponent even has a chance. Fortunately, the men had the brute strength to counter it.

Apparently not, Dennis. Good to not be normal isnt it!? :D

When Mark first bought the Ducati, I was more like...

"Great...when can we go for a ride?" ;D
