Some idiots spoil it for the majority, no considerate pet owners would sit their pooch on a cafe table. I see dogs sitting besides their owners feet in alfresco areas at local cafes regularly with no offence to the other clientele. Common sense and courtesy needs to prevail!! >:( >:(

    Wow.. Just wow.

What a big disappointment if this passes. Whats the saying? A dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans mouth.

I honestly have absolutely NO problem whatsoever with pets, Id say the responsibility lays on the owners lap if they bring an untrained pet to a cafe, which will result in someone elses injury or discomfort. Yet, to rule out guide dogs? Thats just really silly in my humble opinion.

With that said, talk to you later guys, going to go bring my pet fish with me to the local cafe for a latte.

Well the complaint was about a dog "sitting" on a table, which I would draw the line at, not too keen on kids sitting on tables either (I know where they have been ;D). That said I think there would be an uproar if dogs were banned from cafes, best just to turn a blind eye.

Guide dogs are not a companion animal as defined in the Companion Animals Act, they are an Assistance animal, and are exempt from this regulation. I really think you should be giving your fish an espresso, not a latte. It wont be able to see out through the milk ;D.

Another snippet from the Companion Animals Act is that dogs are not prohibited from being within 10 metres of a food prep/consumption area when that area is on a public thoroughfare, such as a footpath or roadway. So if you sit at the outdoor seating of the cafe, you should be right.

The point is that they sat their dog ON the table.

I dont care what they do at home with their "child" but when in public they need to abide by the law.

I agree... I have seen people change dirty nappies on tables... Regardless of what it is... Not on the table... Kids / Dogs / Cats / Shoes and even FISH :D ;D :o 8-)

Only kidding as to teh fish...

I had completely over-looked that part about the dog sitting on the table. Haha Im a goose. But my fish will prevail in that regard. :D
