    Im back - and now a Queenslander...ay!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Right, watch out yall, Im here to stir trouble back up again! [smiley=evil.gif]

After packing up on 22 December 2009, spending a week with the Mother in Law in Taree, I headed up the coast with Emily on the 30th.

It was a dream trip until we hit an accident between Grafton and Ballina and the leg took us 2.5 hours instead of the usual one and a bit... Arrived at Ipswich late that afternoon and settled into a nice serviced apartment for the next week and was treated to a beautiful fireworks display literally right outside our window on New Years Eve (we were on the twelfth floor). Spent the next week getting a bit familiar with the Ipswich area, taking William and Emily to the Railway Museum and spending a lot of time swimming in the Motel pool and floating in the spa.

Given the keys to our new house in Brassall last Tuesday and weve been furiously unpacking ever since - seeing as though this is the second time in the past 8 months weve moved, Im getting pretty sick of packing boxes let me tell you!

Picked up my Mum from the Airport last Wednesday for her two week (unpacking) holiday. Petes gone back down to Taree to pick up the things we left at MILs because he didnt want to do the drive (he went inland in his ute on the 30th via Armidale, Tenterfield, Warwick, etc) in an underpowered ute with a motorbike on the back.

Only about another 20 boxes or so to go now and all the unpacking should be done and dusted.

Had the Double Ms (Maver / Macap) set up at the Mother in Laws, but there wasnt enough bench space or power points at the Motel to set them up and, trust me, I needed a good coffee after a week or so so the pair were officially the first things to be taken into the house and switched on...ah, that first brew after a week without...bliss!

So, give me another week or so and Ill start organising a get together for the Brisbanites!

Still yet to find time to scoot into two to Venezianos and Di Bellas. I think thats going to be my reward next weekend - a coffee hop!

    Cheers
    Di

Oh so good to hear / see ya back on line...

I think my typing and whacked and often dry approach is finally starting to get to some ;D

Have a funny PC problem at the moment... Thus safe mode only and it is causing me probs ;)

Sent ya an e-mail so let me know what ya up to... Could make a special visit with teh wife this Sunday.. I could sit back with a coffee while you and her do some unpacking and cleaning :D :D :D

I am full on for most of next week, but after that who knows...

    Chat to ya soon...

I guess, you might be short of Fresh beans ? If so let me know...

Welcome to QLD Di.... ;D 8-)

Ive given my young bloke (Ken) a heads-up that you guys would be turning up early in the New Year so hell probably make himself known to you both at some stage.

All the best with the unpacking mate (boy, I hate packing/unpacking with a passion :o)....

    Take care :)

    Thats good ay.
Glad you guys are settling-in, Im so grounded here I cannot imagine packing all my junk and moving interstate.... way to hard.

Add to your local event list... Willowbank for a good rev-head day out. 16th Jan they have the Nitro funny cars which is well worth seeing, even better at night under lights.

Also, dont forget to buy a big straw hat and some long white socks to go with your sandles and try and get in the habit of slowing down the frantic pace and saying "yeah, Ill do that sometime soon" ... ay.

Like Andy I couldnt imagine packing up and moving interstate with all of my stuff, but congratulations. And you certainly have moved to some good coffee country up there.

Hey there, great to see you back! And great to hear of your adventures!

Ill echo Andy on the Nitro racing...its heaps of fun, pack your ear plugs or ear muffs (seriously! You will need them) and its the best family night out for little dollars by far. (At least Western Sydney was for us!).

Di, Ill PM you too as soon as I know when Im heading north, though I am still planning to make the barista champs...not sure if Im going to need accomodation however, as we might just come down for the day. (Ill be up on the Sunshine Coast if Im up and yes I know how far it is from the GC...)

Congratulations on moving the best State in Aus. I may be a little biased. ::)

I have moved regularly in my adult life and do not envy the job ahead of you. You will be able to find everything eventually (in two or three years) but somethings never turn up. Even though you knew where they were packed. :-/ :-/

Re: Im back - and now a Queenslander...ay!

Well, the lovley wife and I went bearing Home grown and locally produced Qld produce as a welcome back to QLD gift (Some Supreme Roasters beans as well - share the good stuff around). And of course to say hi (and have a coffee).

Spotted the house from way down the rd...

Prime mover, two hummers, one ute and a bike ALL done up in camo paint *:o :o :o :o :o :o

I looked at her, she looked at me and we counted to 10... Tried to sneek a uturn and Di came out and spotted us *8-) :D

What more can I say... Some of the BEST piklets I have had in ages.... Di, she will be a top *bait layer for years to come...

Pete, is Pete... Just as Di has posted previously *66" *330 lb and a real no nonsence guy... *When they are in camo gear... *Ya never question them.... He is the real driving force behind the coffee *;D

*Its *that or no Bunnings or Supercheep *:D ;D :o (we both want small metal layths as well)

But the final icing on the cake...

    Wait for it..

    CAMO...........

Pullman Tamper *( Oh and Pullman in Itilian = buss / coach)

    AND

    CAMO....................

Makin Maver Marte | and Macap M4

What more can I say... Sorry no pics.. The i-brick was not working ;D

Both of us had an enjoyable few hrs and both of us commented on the piklets on the way home... MORE next time PLEASE.. And let E know she did a great job....*

Sorry Di... Good coffee becomes the norm and is expected, thus nocomplaints *;)

PS. If all goes OK... See you at teh Vs next Saterday... May even have some Green Mangos for ya mum...

    Regards

    Mark

    (Ya recon they will twig)

Re: Im back - and now a Queenslander...ay!

And a truly enjoyable couple of hours were spent with AM & Mrs AM! - Yeah, sorry about the tank out on the front lawn - Ill hide it next time! ;)

I was a bit nervious about making the coffees for a start because Id never made a coffee for anyone that knew what I was doing before, so the pressure was on. Apart from my Sunbeam course, Ive never really had anyone critique my technique, but I cant have done too badly because our honored guests came back for seconds. Im just a bit sorry that the beans were still a bit fresh from the roasting but AM dropped me off a care package that were are now enjoying while my current roast is resting.

    AND...

The mangoes are beautiful (Mum and I had one yesterday afternoon), the aloe is on the back patio ready for Maver burns and the kidlets spent most of the afternoon cracking open macadamias with a hammer and chomping on the them. Pete put a cupful or so still in there shells on the stove in a sauce[an last night and roasted them. Even though he did it in their shells, they still had a lovely roasted taste to them! I cant thank you enough for the tidings!

Emily, the 8 year old, made her first ever solo flight with making something from scratch and cooking something - the pikelets - and she did a good job overall.

A reallly enjoyable break from the unpacking, I have to say, and you are both more than welcome to come over to the dark side whenever youd like.

Oh, and I an attest to the fact that AM is as much of a ratbag in the flesh as he is online! ;D

    Cheers
    Di

Re: Im back - and now a Queenslander...ay!

As much as that is a nice story...

    I really hate it.*

Mainly because it reminds me of just how far away I am from my CS coffee mates. How much I dream of a CSr just "dropping by" the shop one day to chat coffee. How nice to just go "down the road" to visit a site sponsor or two. How lovely it would be to not be just the only CSr within about a squillion miles...you know...all that kind of stuff...

    :P

    ;D

Nah...its all good. Ill be up visiting you lot shortly. *;)

Hey Di, welcome. First things first, we better get you kitted out in a nice Maroon Jersey. ;D

Then a return of favour and take ya around a few of the better coffee houses here in sunny Brissie. And then a open welcome to drop by Brissie northside if you ever want to coffee or three, plus some seedlings that you was promised ;-)

Cheers and say gday to Pete for us as well.

Sweet, looks like Ill be heading across the river around 10.15ish on Saturday morning, distinct possibility of a couple small pot plant looking items in the back of the dunnydore.

AM, do you want a replacement mate. Happy and able to oblige there if need be.

Excellent, its a date on Saturday morning! Thanks for the plants, MP, I really appreciate it! Our new back yard is a bit of a wasteland when it comes to plants at the moment, so theyll get pride of place in their own little garden.

Scoots - PMd ya back. *Can definitely shift the hummer out for a weekend... *;D
