    Microsoft Internet Exploder 9 beta.

    Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    I was just sent an email from Microsoft with a link to the Internet Explorer 9 beta (IE9beta) download.

    The gotcha? *Im running XP on this machine and it wont install on it. *I have Vista (*shudder*) on a notebook but need to keep IE8 on that as the Aust Post E-Parcel java software only runs on that version of IE *(wont run on Firefox).

    I use Firefox as a rule but was going to install IE9beta to make sure that CoffeeSnobs and BeanBay work ok in it.

    Anyone running this beta yet?

    Im a techno dummy Andy, but if I were you, judging by the thread title, Id stand around the corner while installing it.

    Yeah, twas an intentional title... I expect from previous versions of their bloated browser that "exploder" was a pretty safe bet.

    I mainly use Firefox but am trying Chrome and still have IE7.

    The IE is the worst one.
    I think Ill have to try 8 for now.

    Thanks Topshot, that saved me installing it to test CS & BeanBay for now.

    The last thing I wanted was for the site to have some strange quirk in a new browser that everyone got as an overnight update in the near future.

    8-)

    I run em all to test the site. In theory HTML5 "should" work the same in all browsers but I still expect that someone will use their own special tags that dont work everywhere.

    Hey Andy,

    As long as CS works with Firefox I could care less,
    your title was spot on,
    unfortunately "Windoze" and all its peripherals,
    leave a lot to be desired at times...
    Bring back XP I say, still using it on my work laptop and at home.

    I wish I could say that.

    IE versions 6,7 & 8 account for 40% of the visitors
    Firefox = 25%
    Safari = 14%
    Opera = 1.7%

    and the other 20% are a mixed bag.

    So knowing that most people use IE means that I have to be proactive when they release a new version.

    Thats good chunk of "mixed bag" and makes me wonder what the other 15 -20 *other browser types there are as they would each make up less than 1.7%.

    Google Chrome
    SeaMonkey
    Konqueror, but there is a multitude of Linux browsers
    WAP browsers

    yeah... dozens of variations on the above and a few others like:
    Gecko, Netscape, IE5, Google Desktop etc along with the net-bot engines that troll the site.

    None of them account for more than 1% though.
