    Moving on to other things...

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

For many reasons, the most important of which are my family, personal health and wellbeing, I asked Andy a few days ago if I could be relieved of my moderator duties and this has happened today.

We have a highly committed back of house team at CS and I know that we are all in good hands. There are over 14,500 reasons why this is the best and most successful coffee forum in Australia.

Ill still be around to offer advice and assistance wherever I can and will continue to strive for excellence as the bloke behind Talk Coffee.

Thank you Andy for your tireless commitment to the CS community and also to our CS mods- Scootagal, Mal & Javaphile. Its been an absolute honour to be a part of the team and one hell of a blast as well!

See you on the boards and around the traps CSers...* 8-)

    Hi Chris

Just a note of thanks from me for the work youve done on the forum as a Moderator. I appreciate that its a team effort, though your more frequent presence has I think made a huge contribution to keeping things orderly and on track...what must at times be an especially difficult job with the likes of me about! ;D

Will look forward to reading many cjn posts.

    Cheers
    Den

Aahh, Dennis, I remember when you were the original naughty boy on the boards. Look at you now, all grown up, and a sponsor to boot* ;D.

Seriously though, Id like to shout out a huge thank you to Chris for all of your efforts over the years, as a mod, sponsor and supporter of this community.

In my few dealings with Chris hes always shown the utmost skill, integrity and patience. (Him training me to use the Giotto would have led to some frustration/laughter on his behalf* ;)).

A few times Ive asked him for advice, which he could have easily converted into a sale, only for him to steer me down a different path (away from lining his hip pocket).

    Thanks again Chris.

    Im still here.... :P ;D

Im really going to miss having Chris as part of the Mod Team :(. He has helped me out on more occasions than I could ever list here. His sense of humour (and timing) has always served to lighten up situations that would otherwise have gone on to becoming too serious. And of course theres Chris mountain of knowledge and experience as a professional in this great industry, Im still going to be calling on you to help out there from time to time mate... ;)

Anyway, put your feet up, relax and dont worry about us lot with sweating brows behind the scenes :P ;). I know for my part it has been both an honour and a privilege to have been able work with you over the past several years Chris and Im sure that that sentiment will be reflected by the other Mods and Admin.

All the best to you mate, youre going to be a hard act to follow..... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Re: Moving on to other things...

I have to say itís very sad to see Chris drop his moderator duties.* One of the great success stories of this community is the balance that the moderator team have, each of us bring a different perspective to the table and in "back of house" banter Iím fairly confident that we have nearly always made the correct call on the thousands of discussions we have had to date.

CS members often only see the punch-line of a decision, not the process of getting to that point.* Often pages of opinions and hypotheticals are posted before we get to the point that we are on the same page.* Similar to jury, we all take the role seriously and weigh-up the implications of everything we do.

While we have had many members and sponsors over the years question the validity of having a sponsor as a moderator at no time in the last 6 years did Chris ever abuse or misuse that trust.* In fact often it was a hindrance to his business wearing "both hats"* and he would always refer a decision to the rest of the moderator team if there was any chance that it would cause a problem.

I respect your loyalty, ethics, friendship and opinion Chris and I hope that dropping the moderator hat will make your life a tad easier going forward.*

Im happy to see you are still here too!
    :)

I, too, am a bit sad to see this happen Chris, but I can understand why - I can only imagine how much time and effort all of the Mod Squad would have to dedicate to the forum to keep it smooth sailing!

Thanks for your Moderation over the years - fortunately Ive never had the misfortune to be Mod-Bothered although there have been times Ive expected to! :)

So, when does the competition kick off to guess what the J stands for? My vote is Johesphat. ;)

    :-*

    Cheers
    Di

Re: Moving on to other things...

My sentiments over Chris stepping down have been well expressed by everyone here.

I can only say that over my time as being a mod here (which is a huge privilege IMHO and one none of us take lightly), I have always been in awe of Chriss ability to be on top of things here so well and have huge respect for how he has handled issues when they come up.

We all contribute to the moderation job in our own way and I have always appreciated how all the guys do it. It is sad to have to say good bye to one of the team. I do know though that Chris is a friend on and off line, so its not fare well for ever!! :-*

When you think about it, thats a pretty big, and well-deserved compliment.

Re: Moving on to other things...

I had to leave town for a couple of days to deal with a death in the family just prior to this formal announcement being made. Now that Ive returned I can add my sentiments and personal well wishes to those expressed by everybody else.

Andy and the other Mods have done their usual great job in putting words to page leaving little for me to add so I will simply say it has been a pleasure working with Chris all these years. He has brought a keen and insightful perspective to the Mod Teams efforts. Every week the Mod team devotes many tens of hours to the behind the scenes work of keeping CS running smoothly and continuing to be an enjoyable place to visit. Chris has put in these long hours on top of running his own business and of course his family time including becoming a new father. While he will be sorely missed by the rest of the team we understand the need to be able to devote more time to his family/personal life.

Best Wishes Chris and well see ya around the boards!
