Yesterday I discovered that you cant lean hard into a corner, open the throttle, and expect a scooter to stay upright.

I also discovered that once youve had a fall, you should really take a bit of time to rest - otherwise you might come off twice in 5 minutes :-[ OUCH!

You know what its like Andy - sunny afternoon...quick trip to the shops on a scooter...shorts, sandles, and no gloves.

Back at work today - its not that easy looking at a laptop screen mainly through one eye!

thanks for the kind thoughts folks (and the jokes too).

My pride hurts more than anything - worst injuries Ive had in 30 years of riding and it had to happen on the smallest bike Ive ever owned!

Had to laugh to myself in the emergency department - another guy was brought in from a fall off his superbike. He was just leaving the kerb and fell of and broke his collar bone! At least I was going of it! :)

    Hi Dennis,
I wish you a speedy recovery and can sympathise with you.
I had a fall off my "pushie" on Sunday morning.
I heard a noise and a clunk from the chain looked down to see what it was.
Next thing I know Ive hit the gutter the front wheel has spun 180 and Im on the ground.
Bugger..bugger..bugger...and all at about 15kph.Fortunately my injuries dont rival yours but
theres still a lot of pain. And much worse the embarrassment of having to tell everyone how it happened.
Although I may have embellished the truth with some of my friends.

    Cheers,
    Ken.

I sympathis as well, I also know the pain of coming off. FJ1100, corner, council truck spilling sand, say no more.

Dont forget to replace the helmet (if it took a hit)

Appears Dens eye socket saved the helmet (or ice cream container with chin strap I suspect)

Tsk, tsk... now you are the poster boy for what not to do!
    (take heed readers)

it had to happen on the smallest bike Ive ever owned!
All too common. Nearly every little scar I have from two wheeled machines came from kid sized bikes that I had no respect for or was showing off on. Heck, you just have to see "funniest home videos" on telly once to know that anyone who gets on a kids trail bike will run into the shed/washing line/fence/lake at full throttle.

    ;)

    Hey Dennis!

Ive probably come into this discussion too late (considering your other thread) but if you read this then I hope you get better real quick!

As an aside; the two accidents Ive had on bikes (powered variety) have occurred due to the actions of tin tops..thankfully I was able to walk away from both with no major injuries; the bikes on the other hand werent so fortunate!

Anyway, like I said Dennis, all the best champ!

he he he - Ive done the same thing on the same corner - scared the bejaysus out of me, and I was not going anywhere near as fast.

(many years ago a group of friends used to hire PI for a track day and would spend the day riding round the track. Was great fun)

I also took my rebuilt RX125 yammy round the track and just about lost the thing on lukey heights, my bf was rtight behind me at the time and laughed his head off.

Was it Arnie that said, "Im back"?

I think I took a bigger knock on the head when I came off the scooter than I thought. I know the lump is still there almost 3 weeks later! This, combined with my last week away from CS has given me an opportunity to get some clarity.

Ive missed you all - can I come back to play? (I hear the mods groan... :P ;D)

Quantity instead of quality? Were CSers! It HAS to be quality every time ;) How about a 3.0 average of coffee related stuff?

    Re: Den comes agutsa!

    the saga continues....

Two courses of antibiotics, one ultra-sound, three visits to a GP, and 1 visit to a vascular specailist and about $450 later....I now have a small aneurysm on my forehead about the size of a pea (not to be ocnfused with a pea-brain).

So now Im booked in for day surgery on the 29th - I just love the way that customer service is going these days. Because I have private cover I get to go to a private hospital, where I get to complete my own pre-admission paperwork and then go to a private room so that I can cry in private when they give me the bill. But before this happens, he specialist was good enough to tell me she would "send me a quote" - I wonder if there will be a warranty period?

Welcome back, Dennis (Im slow catching up). Good to have you back on board. Hope the "frontal lobotomy" will go ok. My father had one of those pea-sized outposts on his forehead all his life but we grew not to notice it.

At least its not like our department to get anything repaired. Get three quotes and, well use the lowest one ::).
If thats the case, you might have Dr. Nick Riviera doing your surgey for you :o.

Life is hectic, boat refits, laid low with illnesses for a fortnight, Grimac was decommissioned while I waited for my grinder parts.

All of us are slowly coming back to the boil so to speak. Ive been untethered from the study with my new wireless internet router.... nice to be by the fire, watch TV and be on line with the notebook on my lap.

Just wanted to raise this to the surface again, remind everyone that Im having surgery this friday, and now that some of the beans are heading in my direction, its a good reason for you to pray that I get through this little nip n tuck.
