    Me either .... Ho-hum

Much preferred the race when there was more to choose from than just Holden and Falcons, I think the various classes numbered about 4 or so with up to a dozen different makes representing across the spectrum.... much more interesting.

    Agreed,
it was much better (IMHO) when there were the BMW M3s, Nissan Skylines, Mercedes E190s, Ford Sierras, Mazda RX 7s, along with the Commodores battling it out for the title (Geez, Im showing my age here *::)).
Now youve got such a varied choice, as long as its a Holden or Ford *;D.

    Re: Any Bathurst Fans Here?

My favourite line from the "old days" was when Allan Moffat was driving a big Falcon of some sort and Peter Brock was still in a little Torana.

Brockie had chucked a bit of a wobbly about his car and Allans touching at the bottom of Conrod Straight.

When Moffat was queried on it later he denied all knowledge of it and said something like "Did we touch? I didnt notice. I suppose you would though if you were in a Torana".

Ya wont get banned by the Kawasaki riding site owner Sullo ;)

The same site owner that is counting the days till... GO MOTO at the Island. 4 days in the Kawasaki stand, 4 nights in a tent (looking like a soggy, cold wet tent too) and will be loving every minute.

    Go the Ant!

    Re: Any Bathurst Fans Here?

Far-out those last few laps really were interesting, another couple of cm here or there could have taken Lowndes and or Johnson out of contention, fortunately there was some skill shown.

I like the V8 supercar concept,....would really like to see another make or two in the races, unfortunately they have framed to rules to make it difficult......
but not impossible,.....just what would a RWD V8 powered Magna or Aurion be like....Hmmm.

I didnt like the group A days nearly as much, you could not go to a Ford dealer anywhere in Aussie and buy a Sierra. And if the turbo cars can adjust power output for qualifying then so should the V8 guys be allowed to!

I really liked the concept as it was before they brought in group A, plenty of variety as has been noted in earlier posts.

I Agree... they indeed framed the rule to prevent "humiliation"

Hahaha the highlight of the race really. Nearly as good as last year when he didnt even finish a lap. BTW I have them both on Disc to enjoy over and over.

    Re: Any Bathurst Fans Here?

I am surprised that Skaife is getting such a bagging to be honest. I have had the opportunity to meet the guy a number of times and each time was very impressed with him. I met whilst I worked as a mechanic at a launch I went to and he came up and said hello. And than a number of years after that he supported a non-profit training organisation that I worked for and allowed us to take a group of guys to his pit on race day and gave us all tickets for it. Happened to be the same day him and Ingall had the famous Eastern Creek coming together when Ambrose went on to win the championship. So from my experience off track he is a very nice guy. Obviously Lowndes comes across as a nice guy as well. Sometimes the image we get on TV of sportspeople is not an accurate portrait. But horses for courses at the same time I guess.

A kid that goes to school with my son asked him for his autograph and was told in no uncertain terms to F*&Koff, at the same meet Lowndes signed and chatted in his usual happy smiling fashion. One is a gent of the sport and the other a FCK (first class knob)
