    Frangipani Stickers On Cars

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I have a question thats been bugging me for a while and when I raise this subject with people they to ask the question...

Whats with all these frangipani stickers people are putting on their rear windows?

I realise that some put a big HOLDEN sticker across the windsheild so they remember what they are driving, some put playboy stickers on their cars to tell the world they dont get any, and some have to put car radio stickers to advertise what we can hear six blocks away.

Is this some new cult ?

    Anyone?

Also the little red stickers that say ok/25 does anyone know what they are?

Maybe the frangipanis are to make the car smell nice ;D.

    Its a girly thing.

Personally, I hate the stickers. Love the flowers but hate the stickers!

In fact, I hate stickers of any kind and it really pees me off when I go to have anything done on my car and the service people put their company stickers all over my car! What the...!? Cant they see that my car is sticker free!? Have some respect people! I dont pay you to put stickers all over my car! /rant

Actually, I tell a lie, I have one sticker on the rear window of my truck. It says "Jetpilot" and we only had it because Mark was a jet pilot! I had a laugh!

I heard somewhere that the fangipanis meant you were available...if thats still true then there are a lot of avaiilable people out there!

the ok/25 sticker came about as most car theft offenders are under 25 - so the sticker is to inform police that the driver is over 25, so no need to suspect them of having stolen the vehicle

Im with you Scoota. I dont get it at all. Theyre everywhere over the Coast- I dont get it as half the suburbs are full of the trees- why do we need pictures of them on cars?

I have some friends who attack male friends cars with them, plastering them everywhere. They usually get the response they were after...

so maybe its the new way instead of plastering your mobile number and for sale when you have no intention of selling the car?

Im with ya there, i dont understand stickers on cars at all. Mine has one...a rego sticker.

Yep and growing up on the Sunshine Coast there were frangipani stickered cars everywhere...Actually a girl from school had a massive Tweety Bird Plastic sticker thing that covered the entire bonnet of her little Mazda...it looked absolutely horrible!

That over 25 things kind of interesting.

I have a similar question. Ive seen hire cars that are from some hire car company which has the sticker no birds on all the vehicles. I first thought that it might have meant no female drivers, but I dont think theyd get away with that. Anybody know?

They are commenting about many car hire firms that employ mini skirted, generally very attractive young ladies to serve the clients..... and also to bring in the customers...... all this costs money (which you, the customer, pay)....

The no birds means they have some ugly bloke behind the counter.... who also no doubt details the cars, takes out the garbage etc.... etc....

This, in theory at least, means the rental of their cars is better value for money!!

No birds is Bayswater. Rental car company. They basically rent "bell and whistle free" cars. Typically white Corollas.

Im intrigued by those yellow BABY ON BOARD stickers that paranoid parents stick on their back windscreen ...

Ahhh, so what am I meant to do as a fellow driver sharing the road? :-?

    1) Turn my emergency flasher indicators on, jump out of my car, & direct other traffic around this particular car carrying precious cargo?; or

    2) Immediately call the closest cop shop to arrange for a police escort?; or

    3) Pull up beside said car, get the babys attention, & start pulling absurd faces, blowing raspberries, & make coochee-coochee-coo noises to entertain said baby?; or

    4) Pull up beside said car, get the drivers attention, & wave a condom at them with a look on my face that says "tut, tut ... well it was your own fault!"; or

    5) Jump out of my car & stick my own sticker underneath their sticker that says WARNING - SIGNIFICANTLY DISTRACTED DRIVER - STAY CLEAR

Can someone pleeeease illuminate me as the purpose of this futile sticker???

    Stick it to em ;)

Ever had a pain-in-the-backside (usually P-Plated) driver sitting 3 inches from the back of your boot whilst you have two children under the age of two in the back seat of your car?

I dont have a Baby on Board sticker but I can understand why people put them on. Not that I imagine the aforementioned jerks can a) read, or b) give a stuff about someone elses kids.

yep, sure have mwatt - Ive got 3yr old twin lads, and yeah weve all had impatient twits almost nudge the back bumper bar.

A BABY ON BOARD sticker isnt going to deter the likes of them, & just re-inforces my question - whats the point??? :-?

Is such a sticker going to reduce accidents, because it makes people re-examine their driving habits? I seriously think not. Youre either a responsible driver, or not - bottom line I reckon.

Its the same with the HIGH SPEED, LOW IQ stickers you see on some public service cars - whats it going to change?

I thought the frangipanni stickers go along the lines of blokes wearing earrings

    > Left ear - straight

    > Right ear - gay

    > Both ears - party time!

    > A cross earring in either ear - will fight anyone - although I once knew a Christian Bikie who couldnt understand how he got in so many fights.....

Those frangipanni stickers have been bothering me as well lately.
Thanks for raising the question Sullo.

As for the earing thing, I can never remember which ear means which so assume you are gay if youre wearing one.

wasnt there something back inthe late 80s about if you wore your keys on one of those dog clip things on one side it meant the same thing?

    short term memory shot

I have a vague memory that when these stickers first appeared here in the States in the 80s they were intended to notify First Responders to the possibility of there being a baby in the car after one was over-looked in an accident and the case received wide-spread attention. They quickly became just another look at me soccer mom sticker.

being a parent of a 5 week old, Ive noticed less cars sitting on my tail (especially trucks tearing along through the Lane Cove tunnel) with the baby on board sticker on our car.

    Just my observation.
