    Dog Drink

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I am doing coffee for the RSPCA Million Paws Walk this weekend and as an additional fundraiser I was thinking about doing a "doggychino". I have heard that coffee is bad for dogs so I was wondering about ideas from the floor?

Most dogs are also lactose intolerant as well

I heard of owners placing Vegemite or peanut butter in those kong chew toys and dogs love it

So I vote for a Vegemite or peanut butter drink

My hound loves coffee, and eats the beans straight out the roaster... Clever little guy has learnt to paw them across the cement untill they are cool enough to eat.

Anyway, hes fine and its been going on for two years now. I think the point is moderation in any case (chox, sweets, milo, bread) anything. Most animals can handle most things in moderation...

That all being said, im no profesional so take it with a pinch of salt!

    Re: Dog Drink

I did some reading on dogs having coffee a while back as the Beagles like to chew a bean or 2 when I roast as well.
Everything I found suggested that caffeinne was really not good for dogs.
Theres a wide range of emotion in what I read.
Everything from "IT WILL KILL THEM!"
    to
"Oh I give it to my dog every day"

So, I figure a few beans here and there, OK. Regular chomping of a number of beans, not so good.

An article here talks about it.
    http://www.provet.co.uk/petfacts/healthtips/caffeinepoisoning.htm

So, I would steer clear of coffee (and milk) based drinks for dogs.

I wouldnt let my 2 drink it if it was offerred, put it that way.

As with all these sorts of things, Moderation is the key word I think....

One of our dogs (passed on recently) would regularly sit right by me as the roast was coming to the end (blowed how he knew this :-?) and was ready to catch the odd bean or three that spilled over as I transferred the batch from the Corretto to the Cooler. In human terms, he lived to the ripe old age of 87 so if I even get part of the way to that number, Ill be very happy... 8-)

    Found using google.
"Puppycino - Warm, frothy, lactose-free, high protein pet milk topped with liver flakes in a big mug. The ultimate pet indulgence."
Have also seen it made by blending dry dog food then adding steamed pet milk.
