I take it no tsunami? :)
We had a Tsunami Warning last night when I went to bed - is it a bad thing that I was going through things in my mind of what to do if we got evacuated in a hurry, and my order was...
2. Pets (Pete & I would have to take separate cars so that the cats and ferret were in one and the dogs in another, otherwise chaos would ensue!);
3. Hard drive to computer;
4. Coffee Machine & Grinder;
5. Stretchy compendium containing discs of photos and legal documents.
I discarded the need for clothing, food, knick knacks, memorabila etc because I decided they werent that important and could be replaced, but the coffee machine definitely had to come!
I figure if Im going to be in a shelter for days/weeks on end, I want to at least be able to have a good coffee to keep going!
I take it no tsunami? :)
Nope, fortunately. The warning was cancelled at 1.00am and waters not lapping at the doorstop - mind you, I live 30km or so from the ocean!
Shouldnt you also include a airtight and water proof container for the beans in your emergency kit then? I mean its a tsunami after all. Wet coffee is bad coffee.Originally Posted by 280F190B13600 link=1247695448/0#0 date=1247695448
On a more serious note, good to hear that we didnt lose 30 km of Aussie coast nor your good self!
Nah, Id take my greens with me - I figure there would be plenty of gas stoves and cooking implements handy: the hardest job would be beating all the Maitland-ites away from the (tent) door once they smelled the coffee brewing!
As for storage of the greens, I could stuff them into the cats, ferrets and dogs - hey, it works for those little squirrelly things overseas!
I read once that a giant Tsunami struck Sydney (or where Sydney is anyway) around 10,000 years ago. There were 20 tonne deep sea boulders washed several kilometers inland apparently. They thought it was likely caused by a giant meteor strike at sea....
I would have put the laptop first, coffee kit and then the kids.
At least that way you hopefully have the kids carrying the coffe kit.

No one mentions the partner...
Di... Dont expect much from the other half... If you intend to leave said person behind :D
Nah, as previously mentioned, I need him along to ferry the furry ferret (and cats!)
Im just saddened and disappointed no ones put their hands up to try out my Hoykee Luwak yet - its cheap at $50.00 per 250g!
Yeah but if you forget some coffee equipment you can send the kids back in to get it. You cannot send the coffee equipment back in to retrieve forgotten children, itd get salty water in the machine and everything!Originally Posted by 24292A24460 link=1247695448/6#6 date=1247727417
