Latte and mini porcelain cups from maxwell and williams confetti range. Will be going back to get more at the post-chrissy sales. Lovely and thick/heavy and beautiful colours. The spoon and tidemark are my addition I had a laugh... couldnt wait to try them out!

Santa was kind to me--a set of electronic scales for roasting and pourover activities, a Clever Coffee Dripper for those lighter roasts, a digital timer for pourovers and roasting, some new glassware coming thanks to my daughter -- 6 Ypsilon glass capo cups with stainless handles and a set of Ypsilon latte glasses (just gotta work on my latte art, which is pretty tragic!!) ::) ::) ::) ::)

    THANK YOU SANTA!!!! :D :D :D :D

Santa got me the Coffeesnobs USB Temperature Data logger thermocouple. 8-)

This should inspire me to get back into roasting. :) (Been enjoying many of the fine roasters out there lately).

Re: Santa got me [coffee things] for xmas!

The only coffee related product I managed to be given was a packet (and I use that term deliberately!) of roasted coffee direct from Uganda and the 1000 Cups coffee roaster.

The coffee was in a plastic bag...NOT a vacumn sealed bag...that was in a small hessian bag with some pamphlets inside. Quite interesting actually as the main pamphlet is advertising their "Coffee Safari" to Bulansuku Farm for 85USD a day trip!

My fave statement on the bottom of the hessian bag is "For every empty bag returned you get a 10% discount on your next purchase." Dont think Im going to Uganda anytime soon! *;D

I was told that the coffee had only been roasted "a week ago" (a friend has been over in Uganda recently) and so this morning I dared to try it...well, as much as it looked okay, it was definitely stale as it had not been stored properly but it still made a decent cup. Definitely a medium roast, it looked nicely roasted actually but sad that theyre not packaging it properly. I winced once or twice when I heard a small sound in my grinder that definitely didnt sound like beans! Even though I only put a small amount in and checked it before hand...there were a lot of small pieces of beans in the bag, so I wasnt going to risk that some of those small pieces might actually be dirt or rock and so checked what I put in...evidently not close enough!

Anyway...an interesting and fun coffee present all the same!

    Well - Santa got me a La Sorrentina - it makes good coffee but ...... Im sorry to say ;

    - it seems so unpractical - Ive burnt myself twice, its messy -Ive spilt water 3 times while trying to fill the thing - water drips out of the porta filter while putting the coffee powder in - it drips out un uniformly and then after waiting an age to allow the thing to stop dripping coffee so that you can begin pouring it drips as soon as you remove the jug.
so I have already learned to keep a cloth close at hand.

I cant help thinking of the cost - compared with my 7 year old aluminium stove top that I bought for $10 and still makes my favourite brew..and I could have spent the money on a behmor..

Sorry for the whinge - i will be sending a complaint to the manufacturers - perhaps its just me. :-[

Yes, Santa provided two *x 500 ml ss steaming jugs (some confusion with the on line ordering resulted in a duplication) and a mini set of Scottie Callaghan dosing tools and I have to say I once thought they were a rather expensive collection of *plastic but I just love the set Santa brought, *really enjoy using them and would recommend them to anyone

Well I did pretty well, the espresso quest book, a chemex pourover with some yummy beans from first pour and a stove top and matching glasses. I had more fun opening my pressies than the kids.

    I got:

Espresso Coffee - The Science of Quality edited by Andrea Illy and Rinantonio Viani. Written very scientifically and looks like a big read. Its more like a collection of long journal articles and definitely not one for my bedside table ;)

Topics include agronomy, green coffee processing, roasting/grinding, packaging, percolating and decaffeination techniques. A comprehensive resource for those interested in the fundamental notions of coffee quality.

Re: Santa got me [coffee things] for xmas!

This Christmas turned out to be a very merry coffee Christmas ;D

My Wife bought me a shiny new Giotto, (I kicked in for a chrome ECA Best grinder), my boys bought me Rockingham cups and one of those mini keyring group handles - very cute *;).

I took the gear to my sisters place carefully placing my Giotto on the back seat and strapping him? in with the seat belt. *The family enjoyed a nice cuppa after lunch and I was rewarded with a "Fresh Coffee Served Here" sign.

The Giotto brewed up 8 cups in a row without any trouble at all *8-)

Hi Krusty, it didnt come without a lot of hard work :o the trade was all the reno work over the years and careful negotiations highlighting the huge amount of $$$ saved by me doing all the work *:-? plus swmbo is getting a new kitchen and I agreed to pull out the old and do the plumbing and put in a bi-fold (looking forward to that one with the demo saw) Mr Gitto will have to be carefully wrapped up to protect from dust - my work is never ending however she does love the coffee from the new setup so wins to all *:D

Santa (in most cases) seems to know exactly what snobs want, isnt that funny. Even our kids are adding to our kit with things only a snob would know was missing ;D

Not sure how my 6 year old ordered cups from Intelligentsia but theres the mystery of Christmas ;)

    Well done !

Santa brought me a Pullman tamper with a Jarrah handle and a Synesso basket. Nice one Santa ;) Oh and I got some PNG pre-roasted coffee from the Grandparents, it was only roasted 6 months earlier, mmmmmmm fresh, I ground it up and gave it to the inlaws 8-)
