Computer Savvy CSers, I Need Your Help!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
About two days ago, my ability to navigate online to a page via the address bar disappeared on FireFox. I can type in the address, but thats all I can do. If I hit Enter, or even try to use the arrow, absolutely nothing happens.

At the moment, all I can do is do a Google search and then click on the link, which is painful.

Anyone got any ideas of whats gone wrong, by any happy chance?

    Cheers
    Di

Sounds like a FF fault and reinstall would be advised. Id consider upgrading to 3.5 if you are using an older version

Edit: You can try this too

    1. Exit Firefox and Start Firefox in Safe Mode from start menu option

    2. From the window that appears, elect the check box which says Reset toolbars and controls. Then click Make changes and Restart. Youll lose any changes youve made to FF toolbars

Right click in a grey area at teh top and select Navigation BAR
If Di can type URLs then the Nav bar must already be visible.

Re: Computer Savvy CSers, I Need Your Help!

Try pressing Ctrl + shift + L and see if you can open a website using the Open Location window. But Id be trying the Start in Safe Mode fix as mentioned in my first post above or updating FF. What version is shown under Help > About Firefox

Re: Computer Savvy CSers, I Need Your Help!

Thanks Flynn - its currently at V3.5.7, so I think its the latest at the moment.

I tried the Ctrl+Shift+L and that doesnt work either, so Ill try to reset and tell you how I go. Ill have to sign out for a little while.

If that doesnt work, Ill go with Marks suggestion and use Google Chrome, but Ive only just gotten used to FF (and love it, for the most part). Just as an aside, IE is working fine, but I dont really want to go back to that curmugenous cur!

Back in a few minutes to update...

Re: Computer Savvy CSers, I Need Your Help!

Eureka (hmmm, why is it that whenever I see Flynns name, I want to pull out off the strine I can!) - all back again and it worked a treat. The CS Toolbar didnt disappear either, which was good.

    Many thanks, Flynn, much appreciated.

The only thing I can think of that may have caused it was that a couple of days ago, I had a CoffeeSnobs Toolbar upgrade that I downloaded so possibly something in that may have just messed it up a bit.

And thanks to you, AM, TG and WSully for your help, too!

    Cheers
    Di

Re: Computer Savvy CSers, I Need Your Help!

Same thing has been happening to me lately too but as well as the location bar not working I could not save pictures from FF.
When right clicking it would bring a weird menu up with video save options and other not so right things.

Ended up doing the safe mode thing, disabled all plug ins re-ran it and it was back to normal. Restarted all plug-Ins and everything still working.

Seems its been happening a bit to other people too.

    All a bit strange.

Im running v 3.0.17 so worried for a moment that it may have been the updated version.

Re: Computer Savvy CSers, I Need Your Help!

Is there any way you can tell when an update was loaded on, so I can compare when the problems started happening? If FF updated in the past 48 hours or so, then Id say thats the culprit...

    :-?
