Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
ive been reading lots from coffeesnobs and finally taken the time to actually sign up an account...

i know smoking is not the healthiest pastime but still im curious why nobody mentioned about enjoying a nice cuppa coffee with a cigarette or a cigar on a warm sunday afternoon.

Always an addict - stooped this time 4th May - slipped a few times since but have gotten back up...

WHY - Because I would kill to be able to just do that... And a port or Limoncello and ONE cigar - but I am an addict...

I could not stop until the packet is empty and I would be off to buy another.. *Even posting about it causes parts of me to just want to race off and buy a SMALL packet..

But I wont; cause it does not have electrolytes and thats what plants crave * ;)

I never mention it but I love my coffee with a cigarette.

But nowadays one is barely allowed to smoke outside a cafe for fear of killing some precious person.

It is not the most revered addiction in the world.

My cigarettes have added electrolytes I had a laugh

I have no problem with that at all. A quick poll on the Yahoo website yesterday returned circa 65% of respondents who would prefer no smoking in public places whatsoever. Bring it on.

I am over the discarded butts on our streets, in waterways, on our beaches and being flicked from car windows by compulsive litterers who couldnt give a damn.

I would prefer to make the choice to expose myself to 2nd hand smoke if I wish- rather than have it imposed on me by someone else.

There is another reason why I have never mentioned that I smoke. :P

At a cafe you do have a choice, inside smoke free, outside possibility of smoke. ;)

Anyway I will not get into a discussion about smoking. Suffice to say as a smoker I am respectful of others enough to know when it is appropriate or not to smoke around them regardless of location.

    Re: coffee and TOBACCO

I will preface this by saying that I am a non smoker who very occasionally enjoys a good Cigar ::) Had with a coffee or a good drop of something else does actually go together well for me as a flavour combination.

However when having a coffee with a cigarette becomes out of habit like at other times of the day with cigarettes that is when it becomes a part of the adiction problem. In my Sisters case for example you could set a watch within 5 minutes out of pure habit when the kettle goes on and the fags come out for 5 or 6 of hers cancer sticks for the day :(

bf you cant call yourself a non smoker if you "very occasionally" enjoy a good cigar.

    Re: coffee and TOBACCO

With 4-6 Cigars/year I still smoke less than your average city dweller consumes in second hand smoke. *A smoker in my book is someone who HAS to have them. In much the same way I am not a Tea drinker but I drink a few cups a year too ;)

Now back to the Coffee :)

If I could restrict my self to 5 or 6 lung lollies in a day.. I would still be doing it...

Do not want to get into a sling match... But for us oldies.. It is not always so easy..

I grew up with it as being the Real thing to do, it was provided along with a beer by the Blood banks after donations, *along with Rum and other stuff, tobacco was a given as part of rations etc. *

If ya did not smoke and drink a carton ( or at least 6 tallies) after work.. Ya was a wouser and deserved what ya got.

Today we know better. *I feel for the kids that still take it up and often wonder why - with so much more data at hand...

But I also think that some have also forgotten where and how much of it was *every day culture for many.

Just like many people today who can not live without their mobile phone.. *20 years from now we could be in for interesting times *:o

But many have never known a life without all of to-days every day items and technology and are so quick to put down what we who never knew even the smallest luxuries - let alone a pay phone on the street corner or a neighbour that had a B&W TV....

PS. In the middle of the jungle one can smell a sweaty white fella from a fair distance... *Even 30min after a cig, one can still often pick if it is a local or an imported cig.

It was good to get home, where one could smoke without looking over ones shoulder all the time *:-X

    idiocracy? ;D

anyway thats why i always smoke a cigar with loads of coffee and room temperature water to make up for the lack of electrolytes.

im more of a coffee addict than a cigarette addict. i drink about 4 to 6 shots worth of espresso per seating and maybe smoke a cigar once a week (saturdays at home where theres no smoking bans). i think they complement each other very well... coffee aroma with salty earthy notes make sense? :) sorta bring me back to a tropical climate where farmers in orchards would smoke local cheeroots (which is vile) to fend off mosquitos, hot and sweaty I had a laugh

besides the combo gives a nice euphoric sensation which i quite like

I think youre onto something Peanut.
theres something magical about the combination of good espresso, nice cigar, dark chocolate and a fine drop of cognac or port.
I, too, like to convince myself that Im a non smoker, having an occasional cigar.

I suspect that this is all a matter of taste. For me, I find that when I smoke a cigar it actually alters the taste of the coffee negatively. Surpisingly when I was a cigarette smoker I found the two to go together well.

Kotaro, that really is a bit presumptuous of you.
I smoke mostly Trinidad, Cohiba & Davidoff and wouldnt regard any of these as being cheap cigars.

Sorry Mate, I meant absolutely no offense.
I withdraw my statement as they are nice cigars :)
but yes, you are probly right.
the flavour of a cigar is quite intense so i can see how it would over power a coffee.
i usually counteract this with lighter or shorter draws and mixing with oxygen in my mouth.
    :)
