    Domain Registrations and Hosting

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Been quite a few years since I registered a domain or had a website hosted so a question or two for the Geeks out there.

Registering a .com.au who are some of the best to go with and or combined webhosting (moderate bandwidth) or go seperate with the hosting?

    OR

maybe going with a .com but not as likely?

    TIA

I think http://www.crazydomains.com.au/ are the cheapest for domain registration. Not sure about their hosting though.

Just a note re crazydomains - good for domain registration, cheap and simple however avoid them at all costs regarding hosting. Lots of unplanned downtime, zero customer service and no compensation re the downtime as per the contractual agreement.

Whirlpool forums would be the place to look around for this kind of stuff.

If you still already havent Give www.cheaperdomains.com.au a go. Great service. I have 2. coms and 5 .com.aus registered through them. Me using them 7 times speaks volumes - changing out DNS settings and name servers when ever I need through their control panel.

As for hosting you cant beat www.webhostsaustralia.com.au for service - but Ive recently given www.ventraip.com.au a go and they seem fantastic so far - great service - excellent bandwidth allowances and plenty of disk space. I just put www.espressoschool.com.au on VentraIP because 4 GB a month is not enough for a barista school website apparently *:-?

Still finalising new Business Registrations etc before doing the domains reg bit. (!@#$% Red tape)

A few other people I know have domains through Cheaper Domains and reckon they are a good crowd to deal with. So that seems like the go.

000Webhost I have had some free hosting done by them in the past and their commercial rates are good but I would prefer to deal with someone in the country I guess. So I will look up the ones above too.

    thanks

I too can give VentraIP a big thumbs up. *I dont have my domains through them (I wouldnt mind switching though should it be necessary) but the hosting is solid. They also sell Xen VPS machines if youre wanting more dedicated performance, though they usually sell out space in their Melbourne and Sydney data-centres very fast.

Another happy VentraIP user here - mix of domains and hosting. Theyre not flawless, but considering the price Id certainly recommend.
